No, I wasn't suggesting you were wrong in saying what they said, just that I dont understand why they were so specific. Or keen on that particular style. And if they were, why not back the system again with better signings, or (more realistically) acknowledge that it wasn't right for this season and change tack. It may be that no system can save us with the current squad, but I'd like to see someone try and do something differently, cos the press isn't working. I'll happily eat my words if we continue with the press and by some miracle stay up.
The term "We are not going to do anything crazy" i believe the reason for that statement was pretty simple the takeover was going on for months and the press coverage of the takeover process which they will have read and fans also too painted them as some of the richest people who have ever walked the planet. So when it happened they thought the fans would think we are suddenly going to be the next Manchester city etc buying players for huge transfers fees and wages propelling us through the leagues till we are top of the premiership. indeed on here there was excitement and people talking in those terms. they said it multiple times and the reason for it was to dispel / temper those thoughts though still people didn't believe it and thought they didn't really mean it .
Oh I agree with you, old mate. Sorry if my earlier reply came across as somewhat sharp. It certainly wasn't my intention. I'm still behaving like a pitiful Drama Queen from last week.
It will be interesting to see if the next guy can reorganise the players at his disposal into a team that doesn’t look like lambs to the slaughter. Not holing breath though.
“ The fans are impatient” has to be the least fitting label for Barnsley fans ever given. We last won something in 1912 that’s a fair level of patience...
I enjoy your analysis (of both matches and the finances). I mostly agree, though not always. I don't enjoy this criticism of the fan base, particularly when it is entirely unfounded, when the grievances we have are not those you have highlighted, they're something entirely different. There's criticism to be had in this situation, but you're pointing the finger in the wrong direction entirely.
of course there is an alternative it’s beyond ridiculous to claim there isn’t given that no other club at this level operates in the way we do.
The fact is that we are not relegated yet and the plan has not failed yet. If we stay up and gradually improve then we are on track, if we go down the plan goes back 2 years but we are still in business and not crippled with debt. Other facts are, we didnt recruit well enough in the summer and missed some targets but january could save us and the owners handling of Stendel and the supporters has been terrible.
