I didn't even know they had converted the building. A lot of unused buildings in Barnsley that's been left empty for years, someones done a cracking job on this. The price...... 300k.
More living spaces in the vicinity of the town centre would massively help regenerate the town. Leeds did this & it massively boosted the bars, restaurants, etc.
Not at that money. As nice as they are its hardly overlooking the River aire. A lot better for less money in Barnsley.
It’s not like the transport links are shabby either. Good links to the M1, bus and train interchange close by
You'd think they could have done better than put down a £4 a metre rancid beige carpet. Nice to see an old building converted though. Always a shame to see a properly built building being razed to the ground and replaced with something likely to last less than half the time of the original
Just looked online to see a bit more about them. The bathroom spec looks dreadful and some of the units are either tiny or very awkwardly shaped. A few original features retained here and there but it doesn't feel the most sympathetic high spec development. Surely they are going to struggle to sell on the cusp of Brexit?
Plain, simple bathroom specs in the lower priced ones, kitchens are a high standard and personally think the exposed walls are a good touch. I don't like the rooms in the cheaper ones though but not much else they can do. I think the penthouse is quality, but not at that price, probably end up being rented like the ones in the plaza.
Did you see the bathroom in the "penthouse"? Awful. Not sure about the kitchen either, cant see frames and handles, but the doors look pretty cheap and plasticy. Exposed walls pleasant to see but then they've not really added a great deal to enhance those features. I'd guess they ran out of money or just didn't consider the finer details of finishing. I certainly wouldn't be interested in any of them and before I moved to London I lived in quite a few flats that were converted old buildings
**** all to do with Brexit. Who is going to pay 300k for a penthouse flat in barnsley town centre. Regardless of transport links etc. You can get a 4 bed house up Woolley Grange for half that.
No real idea what prices are like in Barnsley, though cheaper than I imagine I suspect. On the cusp of Brexit I suspect bank lending will squeeze and be harder to come by and house pricing sentiment will start to dip. Not ideal for a property developer looking to claw back its costs in the first release or two of flats. We all know what happens to house prices when confidence drains from financial systems and joe public.
It will or it wont but regardless people will still want to buy a house upgrade etc. Those flats offer little or no value for money which is why they wont sell unless someone with more money than sense wants one. No other reason.
it doesn't seem to be an amazing skyline for the best part of 300k.... with a bathroom that probably cost £600
Amazing skyline? What's tha want Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Sydney Opera House? Not too shabby that Town Hall view me thinks. If you can supply and fit me a bathroom like that for £600 i'll have two!
