Mowatt: "We've been working hard in training." Interviews Midfielder eager for Reds to pick up three points on Saturday Alex Mowatt insists Barnsley are looking to react from the defeat at Preston North End a fortnight ago. Continue reading on the official site...
I’m really confused by this party line- wasn’t it only a few days ago someone said that the players had the international break off- on social media abroad etc?
I've no issue with the media department, I think they do a good job, but they desperately need a new headline writer. The first thing that came to mind when reading this offering is written in the first reply to this thread. Word for word. That's two of us, I would imagine there are many more. If they're doing it to take the piss, fair play, I've read numerous that have made me laugh out loud. But if they're intended as a serious one line synopsis of the article... Must try harder.
Not sure who has watched the interview on iFollow, but Alex acquitted himself well. It was telling he was sent for interview & not the club captain. He hinted at a lineup change, but staying with the playing style & said about as much as he could in the circumstances. I'm not sure what we can expect individual players to say at this point, but he seemed upbeat, but sad to lose the man who effectively resurrected his career. What would anyone expect in the circumstances?
We will find out in two days how hard they have worked over the international break to correct the many negatives.
He's walking with a stick & semi incontinent. Still believes in the "plan" though, with some reservations.
And there's me picturing him, chained up, in Joseph Fritzl's cellar, thinking to himself, 'I wonder how the under 18s got on a Crewe today'.
I don’t really know, I’ve seen Pinillos & Cavare back in Spain & France on social media. I’d heard they were away the first week of the 2 week break. Every time a manager gets sacked / leaves the line seems to be that ‘they’re working hard’. I’d imagine if we get anything Saturday then luck, the return of Diaby & Dougall & more time training together will be bigger factors than working harder
Pinillos was definitely in Spain and obviously Halme and Schmidt were both on international duty. So the whole squad weren't together doing double sessions for 9 days. Some may have been, the rest may have been, but I thought it was said there were numerous days there was nobody down at Oakwell and mention of player days off. The interview just didn't set well with me at all.
It’s strange as if they were doing double sessions all international break then someone like Pinillos who missed most of pre-season would surely be of most benefit in taking part in them. Doesn’t sit well with me either. Instead of the club admitting they’ve got transfer policy wrong it seems like they’re happy to make out we’re struggling because we aren’t fit enough.
Thanks Alex. .im sure you guys have....unfortunately the board have been working equally as hard..... not to interact with the loyal fan base and to sell you and woody in jan!!
Agree, the undercurrent from the interview was Stendel was to blame, the players are super talented, we only need to improve 1% but much of that is fitness. I don't recall a consistently collective fitter group. The Flitcroft bunch were largely down to Perkins and O'Brien running around like nutters, not an overall fitness. It just felt more distraction and subterfuge wrapped up in a breezy communication style. It certainly felt there was instruction not to mention Daniel and certainly not his popularity or in any form of positive way. At least Mowatt took responsibility saying the players were at fault and did say a couple of good things about Daniel, but seemed cagey as to how far he could go.
