I'd just like to make a couple of general comments to contribute. The term unregulated immigration is a funny one really, in the first place it's regulations that force you to show your passport when entering the county, whereas on the continent you don't even notice you've gone through borders. The British governments have not tightened immigration policies up as they have in Europe, hence the reason the people in Calais are trying anything to get to UK. It's not the EU, it's UK re immigration. The other point is a really difficult topic IMO. I don't think anyone likes the thought of paying benefits to people who will not try to get a job, but the question is: What would they do if their benefits were stopped? Better still, what you do if you couldn't feed yourself or family. You'd have to do something. How many of these people would resort to muggings, burglary etc. How would our depleted police service cope?
Reduction or removal in benefits generally leads to an increase in prostitution, drug/alcohol dependency and crime.
In 2015 it was shown that the Tory government were handing businesses £93bn a year in benefits (aka subsidies and tax breaks). That amounted to £3500 per household. Edit: note in 2017 the total NHS spend was £122bn. Still, benefit scroungers eh?
And that doesn’t include housing benefit, which whilst paid to ‘benefit claimants’ obviously goes straight into the pockets of landlords. benefits eh...
Because I’m one of them, because I speak eith them, because folk have views other than spouted in The Guardian
so you are saying that things like Farages poster with a line of people from turkey was the reason people voted for brexit? they swallowed the lies basically? as has been pointed out to you Barnsleys immigration population of 4% wouldn't make over 68% of the town vote to leave the EU surely... there are no queues of immigrants at the doctors, there are no school classes full of immigrants , there are no places of work full of immigrants working for pennies. there are plenty of people believing the lies, and there are plenty of people blaming a group of people for their own ills.
40 years of centre right government and the breakdown of society is still the fault of those bloody liberals.
See the Speaker John Bercow has now turned down the request for a straight yes/no vote in the House on the latest Brexit deal on the grounds that it would be disruptive/ repetitive.
What about having disabled children? Was that a choice? Many families with disabled children have been hit very hard by cuts to tax credits and disability benefits. I agree with the general point you are making but as with everything it's very complex when you break it down.
uncontrolled immigration not unregulated. Regulated immigration is what I'm advocating we currently have uncontrolled immigration from eu countries because we cant control the numbers coming - because eu law trumps ours, because eu citizens have the right to come here to work and have access to out benefits system, nhs, schools, services infrastructure. Again, I'm not saying that all immigration is bad, just the current situation. The solution to getting the feckless off benefits is simple, you want paying you work for it. There's loads of jobs to be done around Barnsley where those out of work could be put to good use and earn their corn, but we don't we just dole it out for nowt, they should have to work for it, learn some new skills, no likey no giro-ey.
No Pompey, but you're not listening. The people I have spoken to who voted brexit can remember the difference between now and when we had no bogus asylum seekers feeding off our welfare state, can remember when it didn't take 3 weeks to get in at the doctors, can remember when their kids went to the school at the end of the street not one 5 miles away, can remember when jobs in their communities ( Next warehouse for example ) weren't being advertised only in Poland. I remember going to school as a lad and visiting the old peoples home at Belmont, gone now. We turfed out the old dears and called it something pink and fluffy to make it sound ok. Care in the community. Then although there's no money we did it up and filled it full of folk who'd jumped on the asylum seeker bandwagon, and we were happy to lap it up, to demonstrate our compassion, to show we'd taken our quota. But the old folk of our borough who'd payed their dues, who'd served during the war, who'd voted labour all of their working lives, what about them ? Betrayed that's what, and when the shopkeepers couldn't keep stuff on their shelves, and the women became wary of walking the streets around what had been Belmont alone, who listened ? No -one, because if you complained you were branded a racist by those in power because they know better than you. And the people suffered, and the people got angry, and the people were given a vote, and they voted to end the injustices they'd suffered. But the bleeding hearts and happy clappers who forced this on them in the first place won't let them have what they voted for, instead they persist with the slurs, for they know best, and we are the ignorant.
so your problem appears to be with our own government then??!!! chuff me sideways how many more times does it need saying. It’s not immigration causing your so called ills. and just a point, how do you measure your claim of “bogus asylum seekers” surely if you are bogus, as you put it you can’t claim benefits
Even if Bercow has allowed the vote today, Letwin would have amended it again. The vote would have been the same as Saturday.Bercow isn’t the problem here. I doubt it will be reported that way in the rags tomorrow though.
Are you middle, upper class or a class traitor? A bet tha watches all this Britain on benefits guff and takes it all in, pulling everychuff t bits. Let's focus on the tax dodging greedy fckers costing us billions.
My solution is dead simple, limit the numbers coming here and firms will have to pay better wages than they currently do in order to recruit. The effect of which will be increased tax revenue and more money going into the pot to pay for better services. I'll give you a live example; we're currently trying to recruit an excavator driver at work, our hourly rate it seems is less than the regional average and we're struggling to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced operator as a result. There are plenty about but they won't work for the rate we want to pay so the rate will have to be adjusted. Now imagine if that applied to warehouse workers, cleaners, farm labourers. Imagine if there were less people willing to work for the current rates so rates had to go up and companies had to accept less profit as a result. The directors you seem to have an issue with may think twice about the 100k range rover, wages and income tax revenue would increase, and the strain on the public purse having to subsidise low wages with benefits payments would diminish. Win,win don't you think ?
You’re having an absolute laugh if you think poor, unskilled workers will ever be in a position to turn down a job because it doesn’t pay enough.
