I may be mistaken but I think we didn't win for the last 24 games in 1952/53. After beating West Ham 2-0 on 6th December we didn't get another league win all season. There was an FA Cup victory in early January but no league wins. Unsurprisingly we were relegated, finishing bottom with just 18 points.
Yes. But since the Championship was formed the lowest points total was 23 for Rotherham in 2016/17. So another 16 points needed to better that total.
Just to add that the 52/53 season was before we started getting 3 points for a win. We managed 5 wins and 8 draws that season, which converts to 23 points under the current system. Whichever way you look at it, 23 points looks some distance away at the moment.
