...is all well and good. I've stated my views on them a few times (and been shot down by some) and I stand by what I say. However, as fans if we don't like what they say/don't say and what their policies are what do we effectively do? The owners themselves don't give a toss about the fans as they are simply here to make money. They can treat the fans with contempt and they will still get away with it because they don't give a damn about the club/town/community apart from it's money making potential. They can, at the end of the day, walk away and will still not give a toss if they do so. Fans can't do that as they are prisoners of their own loyalty. By complaining, not renewing season tickets etc what is to be gained? Driving the owners away? If so, where is the club if they DO pull out? Very difficult being a Barnsley fan. Greed and avarice of capitalist, distant, unconnected people is making life as a fan quite hard to stomach. I, like some others on here am getting progressively disillusioned by modern football ownership/management but given the current climate I don't know what the answer is. An incoherent rant I know. I suppose I'm just pissed off.
Said it before. This is a club with no soul. It's not the club we know and have followed. It's Barnsley FC Franchise. It's a product of how the game has gone. In this world order we are and will remain small fry. The Daydream Believers dream is well and truly dead. The prospect of Championship stability is effectively dead. Red Rain makes a plausible case why. It takes a group of risk-takers to buck that trend, and there are better prospects on the horizon about which to take that kind of risk.
I think the **** will hit the fan further down the line. The way January plays out, and then relegation will no doubt have some people not renewing, but the possibility of being successful in league one will retain plenty of interest. They probably know this. If the club doesn't come straight back, or comes back and does exactly the same in terms of building a new team, then we could have a lot of people deciding to stay away.
They've always made it very clear what their intentions are. They'll 1) sell anyone and everyone at the first decent opportunity, and they 2) won't replace those departed players with experienced ones. It'll be more kids. January and beyond will tell us whether they intend to alter their approach. I don't think they will. Complaining about it - and it is ***** - won't change anything. The only way to get the owners out (and I am not sure I want to - better the devil you know) is to stay away en masse. And football fans are no good at doing that, so I'm not sure where that leaves us.
In horse racing terms, putting money into Barnsley is the equivalent of always betting on outsiders. Once in a while your horse will come home in front and you will be in the money, but overall it is throwing money away.
Like watching us then, last season looks along way away but we shall all see in January what these people are about personaly I think we’re fkced
Even last season in the middle of a promotion campaign in january other clubs around us strengthened pompey, sunderland etc. This lot flogged one of our best midfielders in potts who had 2 year left and replaced him with a unknown from yeovil for alot less god knows where the remainder of the fee ended up. Next season if were doing well in league one you know they will do the same all about making money.
No those are the only two options. That's how we make decisions. For example when Wigan came in for Moore and we had to accept the offer or go bust. Luckily we took the money, if we hadn't we would be having bucket collections by now to keep the club going.
If we are the equivalent of racing outsiders then there must be 80% of the teams equivalent to backing skegness donkeys. There are only a few teams each year have success and over the last 20 yrs i personally think we have had our fair share. Most have not had any.Ok things are not going too well at the moment but we have been here before and recovered. We have wealthy owners and for now we are in the championship,it could be alot worse.
