Leaving PNE to take up the position at Stoke - he must be mad! Another Nathan Jones situation, leaving a team flying at the top of the league to go there.
Has he got connections with Stoke? Seems an utterly bizarre thing to do unless he prefers it in league 1?
And we play Stoke next week. Hope we do not suffer from any upsurge in form Stoke might get from this appointment.
Best call ever to Radio Sheffield after we were told after signing him he would set this league alight . Caller "He couldn't set Locke Park bonfire alight with a flame thrower at point blank range"
Just what Stoke are looking for. A manger that has his teams very well organised and plays a direct style. I think he will do a good job there.
He's probably been offered more money by a bigger club with with parachute money to spend in January.
Bigger wage, bigger budget, bigger club and bigger prospects. It doesn't look like it now and it might not be this season. But he's wise enough to realise he's probably taken Preston as far as he can, he will keep Stoke up and next season they will finish above Preston. One step back in the short term to take two steps forward in the near future. That's what happened with one of our players not that long ago who's name escapes me. He left us for a league one side and the next season was a league above us.
BBC Lancashire Sport (@BBCLancsSport) Tweeted: We understand that Preston North End have had no official approach from Stoke City to speak to Alex Neil. No permission will be given for Neil to speak to Stoke should he wish to. North End will also report Stoke for making an illegal approach. #pnefc #stoke #bbcfootball https://t.co/fBjqJupFtF
