    Wedding anniversary treat.

My 3rd visit in 4 years.

    We love the place.

Got a meal booked at a very interestingly named place-

    "My F u c k ing Restaurant"

    I kid you not.

I love staying in Barceloneta, but has been a while since I've been there. Great city.

    Staying in the gothic quarter.
First time I went with my best half we missed the magic fountains so going to view that on Friday night.

My favourite spot I visited is a place called Tibidabo. It's the highest point and overlooks the entire city and beyond..An old fun fair there that is over a century old and a scaled down version of Christ the redemer which you can go up..At that point my vertigo kicked in.

yes, it's a brilliant City - the best thing you can do on a short visit is get to the highest point so you can get a good view of the place.
Liked Guell (sp) Park and spent time in Sitges - brilliant resort with excellent train links to Barcelona.

Have a great time, not been since 2016, ironically missed our play off final. My son's football team did a week long tour of Catalunya, had to pay the deposit before Christmas (when we were bottom of the league) so thought it was a great choice at the time

Wonderful city, loved the Las Ramblas area some cracking bars, Tapas etc.

Park Guell surely. Gaudi is a total head **** in terms of his designs.

If you have time - which you probably won't if you're only there for the weekend - have a day trip to Girona, about an hour north by train. It has a beautiful old town and is worth a few days on its own. The only thing it doesn't have is a coastline.

Anyway, you enjoy yourself while the rest of us go to Oakwell.

Did you book it through a travel agent or did it yourself on line?
I'm thinking of going and wondered which is the best way to sort it.
    Cheers

What are you doing going there? You should only be allowed to go to Morecambe for your summer holidays like the true patriot you are. Have some courage in your convictions.

I'd suggest DIY. Theres absolutely no reason to use a travel agent these days. Look at the low cost airlines websites, or use skyscanner. Research to death on tripadvisor where to eat, visit, stay and check out sites like lonely planet and culture trip that often have loads of things to do that may be off the beaten track.

The Mrs and I have travelled all over the world working out itineraries ourselves, and now we often just book restaurants ahead, copy some research and read it on the plane.

Annual travel insurance is dirt cheap too rather it being bundled into your flight or by an agent.

    Yes Guell Park is brilliant.
The amazing thing is that Gaudi - died in the 1920's ! - got permission to do what he did in the city. Think I'm right that the Sagreda Familia is still unfinished??

Stayed in Sitges some years ago - brilliant resort and within easy striking distance of Barcelona.

    Booked it all ourselves.

Found cheap return flights from Liverpool John Lennon airport on Jet2 as soon as they were released

Transfer to our hotel.is a €10 return ticket bus ride. Every 10 minutes from airport and a lot cheaper than airport taxi companies

And hotel we found through booking.com

What I'd also say, consider B&B's (there is a tab in tripadvisor that allows you to just look at B&Bs). You often get small boutique places with very fresh breakfasts, sometimes a direct request of what you fancy the day before, and in lovely old converted buildings. I stayed in 2 in Palermo in lovely old townhouse apartments. I've found they are often friendlier and more helpful and they will usually book restaurants for you if the place you want to go doesn't have an obvious online booking mechanism or the e-mail is a bit sketchy. There are some good hotels about, but looking at B&Bs shouldn't be ruled out.

It is down to be completed in 2021 i believe. A century after his death.

Did you know it was his own work that brought his end.

He was crossing a main road whilst looking up at his construction work in progress and was hit and killed by a car.
