Haha....only tongue in cheek remark. We’ll likely win a couple somewhere. Not sure when though if not Saturday!
We're going to smash Stoke. We've been creating good chances in recent games and tomorrow will be one of those games where everything goes in. Whether it kickstarts our season remains to be seen.
Its a game both sides will feel they can, but have to win. Too early to say defeat for either side is a knockout blow, but I reckon it would massively dent confidence.
This is the start of an 'easier' run of matches. We've so far played 9 of the current top 10. The next 6 games are against the current 24th, 16th, 22nd, 11th, 14th and 19th. Three of them are at home. If we can't get a couple of wins against these we are definitely toast.
David Prutton tipping us to win....... https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/david-prutton-issues-verdict-on-barnsley-v-stoke-clash/ Hope he's right.
Can see it being a lot tougher than people expect with Michael O'Neill now set to be in charge for tomorrow. Their squad remains very good for championship level.
I think a win depends on us scoring first and shutting the Stoke fans up asap. Seems like were the only side that has no money to strengthen so no good looking to Jsnuary, the wins need to start coming now.
I don't think his appointment makes any difference to tomorrow. He won't have taken a training session, will have only just met the players and has been in the position two minutes. Delap is in a much better position to be in charge having taken training all week. There is a reason a new boss usually just watches from the stands when appointed late. I think him being in the dug out so soon is a sign of desperation (on top of the free travel offer knowing how big the game is for them) and will play in to our hands.
All valid points. I just think the players might be more up for it then they would have been were Delap still in charge. And unlike us, I don't think a lack of ability is the issue with that team.
O'Neill has taken training this morning. I think it will give them a huge boost, a new face coming in, players keen to impress etc.
Absolutely this. This game is make or break for them this season, in my opinion, and they've reacted as if it is too. Free travel for fans. Inspiring choice of manager, and in place to take training today.
I can't believe he's been allowed to say with Northern Ireland. We beat them tomorrow and they will be around 6-9 points in trouble and instead of the boss being there to try and put things right he's leaving for a week to manage someone else. I wouldn't want us bringing in someone like that.
