Don't we have undersoil heating to clear the pitch if it's waterlogged? Or aren't we posh enough yet?

I thought we'd had it for twenty years.

You might get some evaporation from undersoil heating, but generally its to stop the ground getting frozen. Though ironically, nowadays, games are called off more due to the surrounding areas being dangerous... so not sure what actual merit undersoil heating actually has.

Was installed when the north stand was built.

I was under the impression the undersoil part was installed under the pitch first, then the control room was sited in the North Stand when that was built in 1999. I'm probably wrong, though.

It's possible you're correct, the boiler was installed in 1999 but I guess the pipework could have been installed during the normal pitch relaying during the summer.

I remember it must have been close to calling off the game against Middlesborough back when we had one stand - Fjortoft scored a peach for them, Brendon O'Headless with the equaliser as I recall - the pitch had standing water all over. Not sure it would have been played in this day and age.

I seem to remember Don Rowing once admitting that we had undersoil heating but couldn't afford to switch it on. Or words to that effect.

Not due to waterlogging, but in our epic FA cup saga against the blunts in 1990 (I think), weren't a couple of games called off for a frozen pitch?

It's certainly drained the life out of me on occasions. ;)
