Difficult to answer not being an expert on that one. So please bear with me. I got the impression that the funds collected in. Come in in stages. As I referred to in a previous post. So it suggests to me those Funds are still incoming and will be used going forward. The statement all monies coming in will be reinvested in the club is more easy for to me to digest. The statement 95% of transfer funds have been used up ( which was said but explained in more detail than just an off the cuff remark) it didn't mean in my eyes it has all been spent and gone. But 95% has been accounted for to keep the club running going forward. So to answer your question. I was not surprised. As in a previous post/statement it cost more than £13m last time in the championship. Taking into account Gate receipts. Sky and other rights. Plus a percentage of transfer fees coming in. And other income. Of which I could only estimate. I have figures in my head that would lead me to accept the statement at face value. Sorry if you will forgive me if I haven't made it clear . But it's the best I can offer up.

 

It's standard for transfer fees to be paid in installments, but the same thing applies to both incoming and outgoing transfers.

As long as you generate total incoming fees which are greater than the outgoing ones, and you somehow don't screw yourself on paying the outgoing ones on unfavourable terms compared to the incoming ones, then this alone shouldn't prove to be a cash-flow issue for any club.

Said this in another thread (regarding the 95% comment) but I'll put here as well for (if any) discussion purposes:

Sounds like for me for example what they are saying is:

We sell Potts, Moore, Pinnock, and Lindsay all at lets say 3 million each = Net incoming is 12 million

We buy 12 new players, say for 8 million total; in theory the remaining 4 million goes to the players' wages. In that case, we should be accounting the money we saved on Potts, Pinnock, Lindsay, Moore's wages as well.

So technically yes, all the money is going back to the club but in reality it is probably not staying within the club.

More correctly, the money is all FILTERED through the club. All money from player sales goes into the club but what is likely happening or will happen is, the profit margin at the end of each year will be larger and at that point is when the owners will see that money in their pockets via the dividends.

Not saying this is necessarily bad thing in a business sense as they are entitled to make a profit from their investment but if we as fans expect the 12 million in sales to equal 12 million in buying new players we are sadly mistaken.

Its also a FACT that I was once a volunteer redundancy but thats as far from reality as you can get..

And to anyone looking at it without the full facts you would be deemed a volunteer, but you know different about the circumstances around your departure cos your are ITK about your situation. . Same applies to players going but doubt we will never know. That's what I meant about ITK.

 

I believe the rumours told us we'd got somewhere between £6million and £7million for the three sold.
If we paid just £500k for each of the dozen signings, that's £6million there. But Radlinger was free I think? But Wilks and Thomas were said to be over a million.

I don't think the figures are as sketchy as some do.
