Rather than persisting with interviews with Head Coaches from around Europe with no experience of English Football. Do I think he would take it? I think there's a possibility. We should back ourselves to convince him anyway. Will he keep us up? Unlikely. But he's the best appointment going that might guarantee some success next season. For all the suggestions that these owners want to be a yo-yo club, no part of me thinks that can be true.
He would take it I reckon, considering he's just applied for the Hibs job too. Any new coach coming to us unfortunately has to be happy with a relegation on their CV, and given his shocker at stoke maybe he will be more than happy to take it.
He’s the only candidate I can think of but suspect we will either have Murray or some unknown foreign guy.
Luton fans are just bitter because he left them, he did an incredible job there. He failed at Stoke no doubt about it but there’s clearly some deeper problems there. I’d take him in a heartbeat.
Stoke is a basket case of a club to be fair. As for the Luton fans, everything they started saying when he left for Stoke was massively inconsistent with what they were saying when he pretty much led them to back to back promotions.
Maybe they are bitter but tbf they actually improved their win ratio after he'd gone didnt they? My main worries for this young team is that its reported he over complicates things. I agree though that he did do a good job for them
Have you read on here how useless Kieffer Moore was the minute he was moving on? They were top when he left and they finished top. Not sure win ratios come in to it, but he did a phenomenal job with Luton that's for sure.
Getting in a head coach who's successful at over achieving at a club with small gates? Not going to happen.
Id hand my season back if they gave it either of them 2. We wont pay for players so no way we are paying for a 'name' manager anyway.....
Interesting how people have different views on things. If we appointed Holloway, I think that'd be me done. Serial underachiever since the Blackpool days and spouts absolute nonsense on a regular basis. I honestly don't know anymore. The reason I'm pinning my hopes on him is that at least he fits the model of being a young coach, playing attacking football. Saying that, we're repeating mistakes recently. So an unknown foreign coach to get us relegated for the second time in three seasons probably fits the bill.
At this moment in time we need a Pullis type to sort the defence out. Wouldn’t imagine for a minute he would risk his ‘never been relegated’ record though
Would welcome Nathan Jones and I think he could get us sorted out and pointing in the right direction next season. However, not sure he would want an almost certain relegation on CV.
Only the desperate will take the Oakwell job. Even if it goes well you know the good players will be sold pronto. Why would any coach worth his salt want that kind of perpetual struggle? Barnsley is run like an academy, so a coach from that level seems entirely logical.
