Farage fighting labour seats

I realised I didn't want to be part of an elite. I got fairly good GCSE's and went to college. Did my A-Levels. Got a job. Go home to my family. I lead a simple life. Watch football on a weekend, have a bet.

So what if people live in mansions, go to private school and vote Conservative?

 

I surprised myself by angry I was at that announcement yesterday. My own fault. After all Farage has always been a moron.

I think I was upset because I know there are so many gullible dupes who are going to fall for his extreme right wing nonsense and many of them are people I consider to be my own. Just depressing.

 

That's fine if you can do that. I'm not materialistic either and pretty much agree with you BUT some people wont be able to if everyone always accepts the status quo. You wouldnt be able to go to school if everyone had just accepted the have nots didnt need an education.

 

I think the media is playing a big part either way. I don't think Corbyn will take us back to the seventies nor do I think Farage and Johnson would take us back to the 1800's either.

I agree but I am fearful of hard fought workers rights being lost. Already there is way less job stability and longer working hours are creeping in.

 

Yes but this is where the scare mongering wins out. We've just witnessed weeks of deadlock in parliament with nothing being voted through. The really bad laws that contravene human and working rights just wouldn't be passed. If they exist.

 

I think they do get through without people noticing though. Fir example pretty much nowhere pays more for working Subdays any longer; more jobs are on zero hours contracts etc etc.

 

That's down to the businesses though. I work for the NHS and new starters work any five in seven contracts which do in rare cases include working weekends. Where as I work a contract that is 37.5 hours Monday to Friday because I started in 2010. The new starters are up in arms when ever a clinic is organised on a Saturday morning. However, that was the contract they signed.

These things aren't ideal but when you apply for a job due diligence should be carried out too.

 

Are you suggesting that people should choose not to work rather than sign an employment contract you consider poor?

it’s an interesting notion; though I believe that the breaking of the unions has paved the way for employers to use contracts like this eroding workers rights.

 

I'm saying don't go for a job that includes weekends and moan about it when you're asked to work them.

 

The point being, employers don’t consider ‘weekends’ any more, so are you suggesting it’s ok for me to not work at all cos I don’t want to work Saturdays?

 

Find a job that doesn't entail Saturday's then? If I lost my job and had to find alternative employment I'd work Saturday's if it was part of the job. It's better than being on the dole.

 

So back to your original point; we’d rather have a job than not - even if it meant we had to work Saturdays, which we’d rather not.

so we’d end up in exactly the same place as the people who were ‘wrong’; complaining that we had to work weekends even though we’d agreed to do so.

Having just read your post I can see why this Tory Government gets into power your one of them I'm all right Jack and F*** t'others I did this I did that, WHAT about them that can't, I have an autistic grandchild aged 23 who had his living allowance slashed by the same people that live in these mansions, been to private schools, with more money than sense and do not care about working-class people one eye ota especially the invalid and people with health issues, he as to be under supervision 24/7 he as to pay for his own care worker which takes 2/3rd's of his money and that's for just 1 day, when not looked after by me and his grandma at the cost of £0,000,000. 00p we pay for all his clothes, food, and board god knows what will happen when we pass do these torys / brexit party people care, do they chuff. It makes my blood boil.

 

The point I'm making is that when Sunday trading started you earned extra. Now its just any other day. Dont blame the unfortunate people who came to the job after you for having weekends included in their contracts, you had the choice they didnt by all accounts.

 

It's advertised in the advert that it includes weekends though. Look on the NHS jobs website in the job description. When you've worked there so long you can apply for flexible working.

 

The point I'm making is that you should get paid extra for working weekends but this is being eroded. Just one example. In some jobs you'd be forced to change your contract too.
