There is no such thing as a president of the EU. She was however voted president of the European commission after all 747 democratically elected MEPs were given a vote and the majority voted to elect her. Boris is prime minister because a few Tories chose him

We know where it's coming from - 2 assumptions that are far from true, but which you keep clinging to. Assumption 1 - the EU is undemocratic. As you can see above, the EU parliament is a stronger 'democracy' than the Westminster shambles. Assumption 2 - that the EU is moving to the right. - Sadly there's a grain of truth in this... Because the EU is in the world and the entire worlds politics is infected with rising Nationalism. However, the overriding political movement in the EU is neo-liberalism not far right, now I'm not a big fan of neo liberalism, but it's a lot closer to my lefty ideals than the bunch of right wing little englanders that make up the Westminster cabinet. I'd support running away from growing Nationalism across Europe if it didn't mean running into the arms of Trump, which is the actual choice you're faced with. As I posted the other day - it's one thing being a 'socialist' and not wanting to vote for Corbyn for a myriad of reasons - but voting Brexit Party PLC or Tory instead makes no sense. Likewise, not wanting to stay in the EU because you fear it's moving Right is one thing, but wanting to be run solely by BoJo, JRM and Priti Patel instead is absolutely nuts.

One thing to consider, is that in European countries and the EU, President does not mean the same to them as it now does in America.
