Where did I say the statement unites the fans? Where did I pretend anything? No statement was going to unite the fans, but to go way over the top with negativity about a perfectly reasonable statement is becoming more ridiculous with each post you make. That's three replies without pointing out the digs by the way because they're not as obvious as you're claiming.
If you play the iplayer interview backwards you can clearly hear Chien Lee calling us all c@nts. Got to love the BBS.
Others have picked up on the digs too, I'm not going to spend my time dissecting another dreadful statement line by line when its evident from mere reading what its doing. If you're desensitised to their BS already, then so be it.
I've seen people question the comment about this guy being targeted by us before. I've seen nothing to reflect these numerous digs you keep claiming and the paragraph upon paragraph that 'completely lacked class'. I haven't seen anyone be as negative towards this statement as you've been. Not about being desensitised at all. This statement is actually alright and got me excited about Blackburn away on Saturday. The previous statement was appalling. The silence in between appalling. Six weeks without a Head Coach also appalling.
My view is one of apathy and sadness. I wouldn't even call it negative. I respect your right to disagree with me. But there are numerous comments about the digs, think wolvestyke was just one I can recall. And I stand by my view of this statement, the latest in a long line of completely misreading the fanbase and thinking whipped up fervour and overegged hyperbole will make good all ills they have had a hand in creating.
If you're apathetic and sad then maybe tone down how you write things. On the back of outrageously calling Adam Murray a weasel, you come across as aggressively negative rather than sad. Wolves Tyke is criticising the club for stating that everyone should pull together. If we want to stay in the Championship, should we not be doing that? Even if it's just for the 90 minutes of game time?
I have no other way of expressing myself other than with straightforward honesty. I'm certainly not aggressive at all, and will gladly share my opinion and defend it. Next time you're near BBNO Peckham, give me a shout and you'll see first hand ;-) WT can speak for himself of course, but it didn't feel like he was criticising a club puling together.
I think we have to draw a line under everything that's happened before, and hope the new bloke can change things. Even 'new manager bounce' would be a start after what's been on offer so far. I'm not suggesting everything in the garden is rosy, or that anythings changed behind the scenes. Focus has to be on football now, and getting behind the lads at Blackburn.
My criticism is that the owners have used the goodwill that fans will feel towards Struber (and they should, and I will support him and want him to succeed) as an opportunity to blackmail disenchanted fans to get back on board. If there was a statement from our owners or even from DM acknowledging fans views, outlining plans for the future and then asking for a reset of the relationship I would be more enthusiastic. But the way it's been done is opportunistic and poor in my view. The "Now is a time for everyone to pull together ...." bit should have come from the owners.
I'm not one to defend the owners on communication as it's been dreadful. But it feels like people want Dane to step up and be the voice of the club (we never hear from him, what's he do, chunter chunter chunter) and then when he does say his piece, like Mansford and GG did in the press releases announcing Johnson, Hecky, Morais and Stendel, people then complain it should come from the owners. Judging by the general response the majority of fans are happy-ish with the statement, encouraged but not delighted with the appointment, and not at all suddenly uniting with the club and making everything rosey. Which I think is a fair position for fans to be taking.
The stance I take is. In spite of what's gone on before it's been done to death. Harping on about it all the time doesn't change anything. I'm as p1ssed off as the next person but now we've a new head coach I'm looking forward to Saturday to see how they get on.
