They've got him in for a Scoobydoo ending. If it wasn't for you pesky kids, we'd have broken the 20 points mark Conway is really old man Jones from the boatyard.
This is 100% correct. They have employed an inexperienced yes man that's blinded by the lights. Course he supports their philosophy, pay me enough and I will too
I think subsequent results and performances back that up. Wouldn't say it was cynical to think so. One positive for now is that our last defeat was the low point of the season so far. Losing at home to a team that's lost more than us and were our closest rivals in terms of teams at the wrong, and with barely a fight. Can't do worse than that can we?
You cant get away from the fact that a successful head coach, fans and football pundits alike pointed out the lack of expertise when there was still time to do something about it GS was obviously not first choice but I think fans will back him like they have the team. If Stoke had played as poorly as they did against WBA and we were more up for the fight Murray would probably still be in charge As I said before, his best bet for holding onto players and getting some more experience in would be to improve our current position
It would be wrong to tell a still-believing child that Father Christmas doesn't really exist. However, Gerhard Struber's prime asset appears that he is (at the moment) willing to accept the owners' modus operandi without question. How he will feel if he successfully builds a League One promotion-winning side and then watches it's best assets sold off remains to be seen. There is no evidence that these directors are "on a learning curve". They have yet to acknowledge that their policies are not so far proving successful in achieving their stated aim of stability in the Championship and there is no evidence that they are about to change them. Stendel's departure was handled in a graceless fashion, and the lack of communication with the fans is nothing short of contemptuous. They might "get it right" in the long run - who knows? But I can't see it personally, unless they modify their approach.
I think a lad who has been learning the trade for years, has the right qualifications and has experience in managing teams in an elite European competition is capable myself and it’s a shame to see fans writing him off already.
Yep. But it would be nice to hear from Tongue Tied Dane as to why the club is going down the foreign manager route. Morais appointment didn't work. Stendel appointment (according to the owners) didn’t work. And now we have Struber. Who again dosen't know the players or the teams in this league. So what’s the attraction???
I find it amazing how so many people have jumped onto the belief of some that they are hear to only make money and have no concern about the club in the meantime. I doubt very much anyone does not believe they are here to make money, but most of it is based on this seasons results so far & DS sacking. A quick look (from memory)of their transfer windows shows: Jan 2018 - brought in loans and older people (don’t recall anyone leaving) to try to save relegation. Summer 2018 - Aside of Bradshaw, don’t recall them selling anyone, but with Woodrow coming in most see that as OK. Jan 2019 sold 1 established first teamer and a bit part player who nearly everyone slated and called lazy. But never replaced, promotion was achieved. Summer 2019 - I’ll be kind and leave that as currently not looking great. If just a couple of these new signings had come off and hit the ground running and we were let’s say 18th in the league, apart from the obvious posters, people would not be so ‘disgusted’ etc. We could pull the above apart and analyse but I read that as 3 out of 4 was OK. So the question is could and I stress could it be they got carried away and believed in their own hype and just made a bad strategic decision? Could it be they are just arrogant business men who believe they will be right and have just made a bad short term decision? As others have said Jan will tell us more, if they don’t spend we will know more but perhaps (and the ham fisted point of my post) in the meantime everyone should get behind the club, try to get some positive vibes going until then.
I don’t believe they are here to make money. As Patrick Cryne used to say - if you want to lose a lot of money then buy a football club. It’s laughable to suggest that these owners are here to make money. But they are not here to risk losing an enormous amount of money either. Which is unfortunate for us - because many wealthy club owners are prepared to push the boat out more than our owners. As I’ve said in the past - do you know anyone that is in a consortium that has bought a race horse? All for the purpose of increasing the enjoyment from the sport. Well same thing applies here with these owners buying Barnsley.
It depends on what you seem as success I suppose. Money or performance on the pitch. Hundreds or organisations exist and plenty don't tell staff or customers jack ****. Most if them (and i would guess everyone either currently works for one or has done) Don't discuss with the "lower end staff" or customers. Does it make it right, no, because some staff and customers have some real decent ideas and potential. But they never get seen or heard. Mostly because them at the top have made it and don't give 2 shits about anything but themselves. A happy place is where everyone pulls together. And we've seen this happen at our club recently. However as it stands the ones that make those decisions are as far away from everyone else it's pretty actually scary.
I tend to think this is more likely. My biggest gripe is we have mastered the art of misjudgement to the point that we can achieve the same outcomes in the the relegation / promotion / relegation cycles time and time again. We will see in January and in May and if we don't strengthen and bring in experience and get relegated i guess its part proof that the mismanagement is a root cause of the misjudgement.
I think there is reason for concern in that. In almost 2 years we're in a worst state on the pitch, but will no longer consider loanees or older players as an option. 2nd spell in the Championship for them, yet they put out a weaker team than last time around. First time we go down and don't come straight back, the **** will really hit the fan for them.
Yes we have to give him chance,we have no choice, but he has to be able to open his mouth to them above without getting the chop and them above have got to listen and be prepared to admit they were wrong
Two questions Nudge: 1 What does 'right' mean for you? 2 Aside from getting Struber (and only time will tell whether he does a good job or not) what evidence do you see of them really trying? At the moment I don't see any evidence that they are "really trying hard" but perhaps I'm missing something that you're seeing? As many others have said January is critical. If they keep our best players and bring in the experience we are desperate for then my attitude will soften but at the moment I'm clearly not seeing something that you are......
What is this new CEO doing to escape the regular 'jury's out' comments from Nudger? GG was always being questioned, yet this guy and the board are apparently doing their best. What didn't Ganaye do that was different, apart from talk to the fans?
I also don't think it's malice Icer. It makes no sense to suggest that they would do this intentionally. BUT the extent of the misjudgement is so great it's negligent. And it's the silence that has lead people towards thinking it's malicious. My view on that is that it's probably arrogance but Barnsley people don't like arrogant people and until they start to show some humility they won't be able to engage fans and won't rebuild relationships. Maybe they're assuming that improved results will mean it all goes away but I think that's unlikely.
I’ve had something similar happen to me at the Aldi this afternoon. My family and I really enjoy the fish burgers with the buttermilk coating but unfortunately they have taken them off the shelves, it’s a disgrace. To make matters worse, they also haven’t released a grovelling statement about this nor has one of the owners flown in from abroad to personally say sorry.
They obviously don’t appreciate you’re custom and god given right to know every single detail of the reason taken. Get yer sen to Lidl
