I fail to see how giving another party a chance for 5 years would be calamamitous. My best hope would be more public spending and some sort of resolution on Brexit. My worst fear some of what was planned would be obstructed by big business. In my view though something is better than nothing.

No. That was the point of my opening post. Johnson is no better than the rest. We are stuck with no alternatives this time. The Election is dominated by Brexit, and Brexit is a deep, dark tunnel from which there is no escape.

I’d always regarded The Guardian as dressing to the left ?

By saying he’s no better than the rest, I believe you are actually giving him credit. Johnson is worse than any of the others, he has already shown, in his short term in office, and will continue to lie, manipulate, not care a jot of the consequences of his contempt for anyone or anything that opposes him or his actions. Unfortunately Brexit was always going dominate this coming GE, isn’t that why Johnson called it in the first place. It is masking the domestic front whereby the Tories have failed woefully

Rest assured that even if I credited Johnson with anything by accident, or even inference, it was purely an accident. He is hopeless. By the way, are you my missus? This is the sort of conclusion that she would arrive at, and the sort of conversation I have with her all the time.

I didn’t do any name calling, just pointing out no ones bullying you. But once more you like to play the victim, oddly whilst also being condescending.

but back to the point: I’ll spell it out for you.

you keep posting that with a different leader Labour would be doing better and they wouldn’t get attacked like Corbyn does.

several posters have pointed out that Brown and Milliband were also attacked in the same way, ergo your assertion is incorrect, the RWM will always attack the Labour leader (except Blair who the Sun backed)

if you repeat that assertion in light of evidence we all lived through, you’re ignoring evidence.

it’s not complex - it’s incorrect to assert that a different leader would make a massive difference.

Again: I’d rather they had a different leader, but I’d still rather have a flawed leader in a red rosette than a flawed leader in a blue or yellow one.

Glad to see Trixster has just ignored Cod Eye's post because it just sits him down and eloquently destroys his feeble argument.

Want to comment on that Mr Two Six?

Slightly, but it’s not Corbyn supporting, and it barely has the same reach. The Mirror is also left leaning but the circulation numbers are tiny in real terms.

the Sun is still the biggest selling paper by a huge amount and the Mail online is the no1 news website worldwide. There’s also Sky news v C4 and BBC news which try hard to be neutral (but in the case of the BBC an incumbent govt always gets the rub of the green).

but all of that’s getting more old fashioned by the day.

the Daily Mail May have tied up the over 60’s vote but the new battleground for the rest is online targeted ads.

I have never heard Corbyn utter anything to make me think he is anti-Semitic - i'm sure we would have heard about it if he did. By comparison, our prime minister has called muslims letterboxes which is by far the most racist comment we have heard from any politician. However it seems Corbyn gets the most stick and Johnson gets little by way of criticism. This country is crazy.

It's pretty obvious Johnson has a credibility issue, both amongst those who are born Tory haters, but also the prim middle class who don't like his treatment of women. Corbyn is far more dangerous in my opinion - don't let the grandpa look fool you. He wants to turn the clock back to some socialist pipe dream which will discourage ambition, and further the entitlement attitude of many people. It would be an economic car crash. I don't like Nicola Sturgeon but she is the most consistent and assured. Jo Swinson wasn't surrounded by admiring Liberal buddies and floundered.....the worst outcome is a hung parliament and an alliance of Labour and SNP. The Union splits up and we head off into la la land in our council houses, working four days a week, and having our unhealthy lifestyles covered by pouring billions into medical care....
