Would you please get in touch with me and we can go out after the game this weekend. I'll introduce you to all my friends and we'll go into the No 7 and meet dozens of past and present contributors to this BBS. All Labour voters. And not only won't you hear an antisemitic utterance, not one of the people you will meet has ever made an antisemitic comment, not one of the people you will meet has ever thought one. You'll witness flaws in all our characters, you'll see lots of people drinking way too much, you'll like some people and not others, you'll find some of us fun and interesting and some of us dull and boorish, you'll see Barnsley and Labour for what it is, wonderful and beautiful and fkuced up and messy, but not a single shred of evidence of antisemitism. Because it simply doesn't exist. It is not part of our consciousness. Please, please question what the Chief Rabbi has said because it's so wrong. It's just nonsense.
I agree. I've never come across anyone on the left who is antisemitic but I've come across plenty on the right who are. I've met people who criticise the actions of the state of Israel, but that's not antisemitic.
Massive fabrication of an issue that doesn’t really exist. Islamophobia in the Tory party seems to be rarely mentioned by comparison.
I might the odd o e out here but I've never heard ANYONE make an antisemitic comment in person. When I was younger children would make comments like "I've been jewed" but I don't consider that anti-Semitism because they didn't understand the meaning behind it, it was just a phrase that didn't have any intent. As an adult or from someone who should know better I've never heard a single anti-Semitic comment. Ever. Heard plenty of islamophobic comments like those made by prime minister but shhhh that doesn't matter
I’m mid 40s and never been witness to any antisemitism. Nothing even close. I’ve lived in various parts of the county and outside of it once or twice.
I've been following the democratic primaries over in the US of A and exactly the same is happening to Tulsi gabbard . Though they don't use the anti semitic smear they use about every other one available . She's standing on an anti war platform and Medicare for all . Funny how anyone who stands for those sorts of things gets absolutely slated by the usual suspects .
I've been witness to anti-muslim incidents, I've seen anti-homosexual incidents, I've seen attacks on gypsies, I've heard massively racist stuff regards anyone non-white. I cannot ever recall anything that I've heard that could be said to be anti-Jew. Not once, in 44 years. Just today I watched a video of a Tory who was out canvassing and he knocks on the door of a bloke, white bloke, looks to be in his 50s and this bloke is clearly backwards and starts saying he agrees with the Tory that people who misbehave on housing estates should be put in camps of some nature. But he goes a bit further and refers to hurting them too. Punishing them with a medieval implement. And worse still, it turns out the Tory had already phoned this 'chance encounter' up, and asked him to play the white man. But that's not on the BBC news page. It's not on the main bulletins. Yet this notion that antisemitism is rife, and it's Labour's fault, that IS? We're foooooked. As Nudger says.
This whole anti semitic smear is what you call guilt by association . Oldest trick in the book . How much is it to join the labour party ? 25 quid ? Any idiot could join then start posting anti semitic nonsense but somehow that's corbyns fault .
I always assumed anti-semitism stopped in 1945 - that the atrocities of the Nazis were so appalling, that it essentially extinguished that way of thinking. But apparently it is alive and well, at least within the dark realms of the internet.
I come from Luciana Berger's ward and have never heard any anti-Jewish comments or seen any slogans. Find it difficult to believe it bearing in mind the only Jewish school in Liverpool is in this ward and Wavertree has a large Jewish population!
All this antisemitism stuff must be happening in a different parish to me. I reckon Corbyn dislikes Palestinians being slaughtered in great numbers, when compared to the relative scratches Israel seems to suffer in comparison, whilst in the meantime Israel occupies/settles further land and thus makes the prospect of a reasonable peace settlement in that area even less likely. I agree with him. All that shouldn't spill over into this country. But it does. Not for Corbyn, cos he just wants fairness in that messed up god infested area. It's his activists in the background who, from what I've seen, don't understand the difference between Israel the state, and Jews over here. He gets guilt by association. Jews over here should be able to be like you and me (if they're down on their luck) just like anyone else. I don't know if they can be.
The new Chief Rabbi isn,'t a spiritual appointment nor is he a thinker,he's very much a political and pr appointment. By speaking out like he has, he has put Jews in the UK in the spotlight, for all the wrong reasons. Not all jews support the conservatives, historically in the UK they have felt at home with Labour. People are fickle and a lot of far right/neo nazis target Jews. The English elite have been anti semitic historically. A problem over the past few years have been a few people on the left have made anti semitic attacks, which have been proven. As leader of the party Corbyn did not react with speed and determination, possibly because he's not someone who likes confrontation and he's not someone who used to running a organisation. However, i believe that today has been a coordinated planned attack to coincide with the Neil interview. Sadly the Archbishop of Canterbury has broken his silence of many many years. Not to criticise the years of austerity, poverty, poor public services, government lies and incompetence, brexit, food banks, terrorism, increasing racist attacks. Nothing absolutely nothing, no christian leadership, nothing. Then today he speaks to attack Corbyn. I think they have been promised a softening of regulations around faith schools and probably a bit of cash. 20 pieces of silver,to be dishonourable. What s sad state of affairs in the UK, where the leaders of 2 religions, have not shown spiritual leadership but have sought to spread division and hatred. A month ago the conservatives said that half of UK jews would leave the country if Labour won. Where would they go? The UK along with Spain is the safest place in europe for jews. The rest of Europe continually has anti semitic attacks, including murders, France is a very dangerous place for Jews. Would they go to Israel or US? I don't think so. Most jews don't like attention being drawn to them, history proves that, these are dangerous times. This article by the Rabbi was written 2 weeks ago,why publish it today? Is it because 2 weeks of "Get Brexit done" is starting to lower the Tories lead over the weekend? Now it's back to personal attacks, politics is a dirty business. The current state of the UK depresses me. Have faith and hope everyone and keep love in your hearts.
I have posted this before but the only time I have ever heard anything remotely anti-Jewish is when we have played tottenham, the only time ever.
I've actually framed this badly. I've said what you will expect rather than allowing you to form your own opinion. My excuse is this: If you were black or if you were Muslim from North Africa or the Middle East or the Indian subcontinent, I'd be on my guard all night. Not from who we're going to meet, again they'd welcome you with open arms. But there are some arseholes who'd may say something that I'd take serious exception to. But not if you're Jewish. There'd be nothing. There still is racism in my country, much to my shame and dismay, but not to your religious beliefs. Stop this, stop these lies, it's hideous. It really is.
There is some anti semitism on the fringe of the Labour Party. I'm not Jewish and have had two spells in the party. I first left because I opposed the first Gulf War and re joined after Jeremy Corbyn became leader. I haven't seen any anti semitism myself which is not surprising as only 0.1% of the party membership have been found to be anti semitic. Tom Watson and Margaret Hodge sent in hundreds of complaints to the party which clogged up the disciplinary system and most if not all of the names they sent were none party members. Every individual who has been prosecuted by the Police for threats made to Jewish Labour MPs have come from the far right.
