I never went and usually I would have but due to the circumstances, rather go to gym and watch it at home with a crate. Fair play to the guys and girls who could be arsed to travel tonight. Top effort from you all. I'm going to be expressing my displeasure on Saturday to the board I absolutely despise but won't be blaming anything on the players. They work their balls off every game but Conway etc have killed any opportunities to progress under Barnsley Football Club. Mowatt, Woodrow, Diaby etc....nobody will blame you for bailing as you amongst one or two others are too good for this calamity. Love football, hate Barnsley. Used to be the other way round.
I know several people who went. Many worked all day, then travelled to Middlesbrough in horrendous conditions, watched that, then they're still not home as I write. Then they're off to work again tomorrow. They're the true heroes of tonight. Respect to each and every one of them. True fans.
Yes - well done to them. Now on Saturday the team need our support. All this stuff about showing displeasure to the board. What form will that take exactly? Will anyone take any notice? I am sure they are aware of discontent and the league position is pretty clear. We can't bring in new players until January, so it would be a good idea to get behind the new coaching staff, the players and support them at Oakwell on Saturday. There are defensive issues yes - but we have not had the run of the ball. We are getting a lot of possession, are fast on the break - but perhaps lack some real class up front, otherwise not had the rub of the green, I just get tired of this whinging and moaning about the board - it's tedious and pointless.
We played our best striker in midfield & have 3 out of our 4 defenders that could not defend to save their lives. Williams & Radlinger saved us from a 3 or 4 goal mauling to a very poor team.
Just got back. Maybe about 600 reds fans? Some displeasure at the final whistle as you can probably imagine, but some still clapping the players. Very poor second half really having looked decent in the first. Powder puff up front tbh and never genuinely looked like scoring. Woodrow had an off night, Chaplin ineffective and Schmidt and Thomas looked like kids playing against men. Don't really see any hope of anything other than a long humiliating season now. Confidence is shot and heads dropped after Boro scored.
Yes, terrible weather, water spraying out of the pitch when ball kicked etc. Definitely not the surrender that some have posted on here tonight. Second half, particularly, Ben Williams who made the brilliant goal line clearance 1st half, had acres of space to move forward into (and generally did) but didn't put any dangerous balls into the box. Things didn't quite work out Woodrow either. Feeds to him in dangerous positions didn't quite "stick" - but that happens. The main screen was just to the left of yhe away fans are - the replay of the 'boro' goal just confirmed what it looked like live: Cavare had possession but lost it far too easily: he's great going forward but doesn't have the mindset to play a defensive position . Bring on Hull !.....
It's utterly disappointing how many players look bright as subs (not a weather related pun), but then make little impression as starters. It seems like we only have players that are effective against tired legs.
