At the game yesterday I was waiting for the people who come on here to voice their displeasure at the Board and criticize the recruitment plan or whatever to begin their demonstration or whatever it was they had planned.

Oddly enough I don't think they were there. The stadium seemed packed with positivity and enthusiasm and the players gave them plenty to be positive and enthusiastic about. People had criticised the workrate and attitude of the players against Middlesborough. No sign of that here.

It has reinforced my growing suspicion that this forum attracts the moaners and malcontents and gives a false impression of the support that is there for the team, coaching staff, and, dare I say it, the Board.

We had the run of the ball yesterday and, being realistic, Hull spurned two good chances to score that might have changed everything, but it was time for our luck to turn.

So if you deliberately stayed away I'm glad. You missed one of the most pleasing performances and results I have seen for a long time, made much sweeter by how long it has been waited for.

Yes it's nice to wake up to a win but Oakwell was emptier than the start of the season, the usual suspects round me were moaning at the players and James Cryne as per usual so I'm not isure there was much positivity at the start of the match. My favourite was getting at Andersen for being on the edge of the box for the goal kick, somewhere hed clearly been asked to be by Struber. Think now Sibbick isn't the whipping boy that Brown is next in line which is a shame because I think hes capable of developing a lot more.

To be fair, it’s only turned nasty previously when we’ve gone behind. That never happened and scoring first gave the whole place a welcome lift.
A great performance and win. Hope it’s a start of better things to come. I’m still sceptical about what will happen in January though and one good win won’t change that. Still don’t trust the owners one bit. I’ll forget about them for a week though and bask in the glory of a long awaited win.

Hull did miss 2 chances, but pleasingly I think they were the only clear chances they had in 96 minutes. (And you’re right about the other points as well)

I’ve got to disagree. I moan loads on here about the way the clubs run but I always support the team when I go & I’d guess many others do the same.

I’d say if anything it’s the groups of young lads who probably go when we do well who aren’t going as much as the Ponty End has noticeably a lot more empty seats.

Do you know that just because people come on here criticising the way owners are running the club they can still support our players when they play. It is possible to do both.

We win the grounds buzzing lose regularly and they are booing.

It seemed to me the crowd was turning on Brown and that cant happen a young lad who has been here a long time and gives his all and has scored some important goals.

Im sure all the young U23s will look up to him as the way for them to progress and for our supporters to turn on him would be unforgiveable. The lad has played left back right back , left wing, right wing, left wing back right wing back upfront in a 3, and upfront in a 2, i think the lad deserves nothing but credit for the attitude he shows on the pitch and off it for his community work as well.

I was just about to say the same Mario, I’m hoping that all the folk who have moaned about the board ,recruitment and the way it’s be run (and I’m one of them) are proved totally wrong, I’d love nothing more than for Conway to be able to put a “trust us” statement out at the end of the season, I’m absolutely buzzing about the win but let’s see if we can carry it on now.

So you dont think there have been cause for the frustration?? Wev won one game in god knows how long, it was a good performance and gives us all a lift but lets not make out everyone else is wrong or less of a fan for venting their displeasure at recent events at oakwell. Posts like this are worse than the moaning ones in my opinion. Glad you enjoyed the game tho.

It was a great win. I loved it. We have been playing good football but losing due to naive defensive mistakes and not getting the rub of the green or enough 50/50 decisions. This sort of thing is still happening; e.g. The penalty shout in the 1st half.
We were clearly the better team yesterday and earned the 3 points, although Hull were clearly not good enough to take advantage of our defensive errors and stray passes. Perhaps we have turned a corner but there is still a lot of work to do to improve our play. We now need to get a clean sheet. We have not managed one of those since Wigan away at the end of August.

My post was slightly tongue-in-cheek. Of course the forum exists for people to put forward their opinions and criticism of whoever they like. I was just getting a little tired of some people assuming that everyone who comes on here is so critical of the board that there is a groundswell of discontent leading to demonstrations of disgust. It's been a very bad start to the season, of course it has, but a lot of the football we saw yesterday had the pundits praising us - Ian Holloway and Colin Murray on Quest, the Hull commentator on Tigers TV and Tony Mowbray put in a good word for us the other week, though it's easy to be magnanimous when you have won. Some great movement going forward yesterday, a couple of defensive dithers. I was sceptical at bringing Jordan Williams back in considering how he struggled against Preston, and would be up against Jarrod Bowman - but I was proved wrong.

Hull didn't play well and things went wrong for them.

People moan on here so it's out of their system instead of doing so at Oakwell, where the team need supporting.

Must be the name Brown............Keith Brown, Kenny Brown :eek::D please lay off. Given time and the right coaching he'll be an excellent all round footballer (worth considerably more than ten bob and a 'blackies egg')

Even if we survive this season, which I sincerely hope we do, I will still retain my absolute contempt for the way the people in charge are managing the club. I didn’t go yesterday, but my two sons and two grandkids did, and I’m chuffed to bits that they saw the team win. I also missed the other game we’ve won this season because we were on holiday. Funnily enough, I recall reading all sorts of stuff on here then about us challenging for the playoffs etc. Just to be clear, at least in my case it isn’t ‘moaning’. It’s actually a reflection of disappointment, anger and genuine concern as to how the club is being run. If that’s not what this board should include then I’m genuinely confused as to why it exists in the first place.

He looks shot on confidence this season. I know it's a tougher level and he was playing catch up due to injury, but he struggles to take anyone on these days.

But yesterday he did a nice dummy for Bahre to score, got an assist for passing to Chaplin for his goal and could have had a goal himself when he shot wide of the post in the second half.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion. But to show "absolute contempt" for the "people in charge"? Do you mean the businessmen and women who have invested their money and ensured that the club is financially secure and in existence so that we can go along and watch a team. You may disagree with their business plan, and recruitment strategy. I don't think you are being fair in using such strong language as "contempt" In fact I think it's childish. And that's my opinion.

Don’t know why Brown is getting any stick. He was involved in all the goals yesterday and held the ball up superbly well. He was one of our best players in the two previous games also. He’s one of the nicest lads you could meet too.

As for the crowd, it looked a usual turnout at this time of the season. My toes have only just thawed out!
