Last I saw of it, the Hearts Board were seeking clarification as to the terms of Stendels current employment status, although in one article their Chair describes negotiations thus far, as torturous. https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman....-clarity-barnsleys-compensation-claim-1331645
Everyone keeps saying move on so can Conway do the same. I think everyone is sick to the back teeth of it all now
I don’t disagree, the appear to me to board run the club coldly, as though to them its just another asset in their portfolio to make money from. They don't seem to understand nor care about the fans perspective. Thats why I’m saying that their position will be to say very little in the avoidance of any claims from the departed. Not saying I support the board just offering my take on why we got a curt 21 word statement and little since.
This isn't an issue of Conway saying nothing. It's about the audiences he's choosing to engage with, and those he deliberately seems to be avoiding. As far as I'm aware, subsequent to Stendel's departure, he's not made any public comment or quote to BFC supporters, on any topic, including the appointment of Struber. During the same period he's twice been quoted in the Scottish press, one regarding an attempt to take over Partick Thistle and now this regarding Hearts trying to appoint Stendel. The Stendel one in particular is weird as it's revealing snippets of exactly the type of information that you're arguing should remain confidential, which defeats the purpose of staying silent on the subject. He's presumably given the interview with the expectation that the news will obviously filter down to the BFC fanbase, which makes the fact that he's still not engaging with the fanbase directly even more stark, at a time when their motives are under scrutiny from many supporters.
Did read that and thought it was a message to make him look squeeky clean. She aint actually blamed the club just saying the whole process has been tortuous. I dare say it can read more than one way.
The way Conway is digging his heels in here in my view is admirable. I'd rather get compo that went towards a decent January signing that helped keep us up. It's the Barnsley way to want to do things with morality. This morality has done nothing but cost the club over the years. Adhering to FFP too early and appointing Keith Hill being one example.
I'd rather we'd have used the money we've spent sacking Tonge and Stern, separating from Stendel, presumably paying the caretaker manager more and appointing Struber and his staff on some experience that Stendel wanted at the start of the season. It's been a car crash of a season as far as the boards concerned this season.
Take Conway out of the picture for a second the club has always been reactionary rather than revolutionary. Under Cryne they penny pinched which resulted in January 2014 going out and bringing in seven players including Frimpong that turned out to be expensive flops. Lesson's weren't learnt and the same happened again in January 2018. Granted he'd already sold the club and had just passed on but the system of panic remained the same. The outcome was also the same, relegation. I'd hope that Stendel was sacked for footballing reasons and we have a better Head Coach. The club picks up three or four wins before January 1st and this sorry mess is consigned to the history books.
I just have no confidence that if they were to receive monies from Hearts it would be spent wisely by this board on what we really require to stay in this division.
I don't get why, with them being multi billionaires they want peanuts form player sales? I see no reason why they'd deliberately asset strip a Championship/ League 1 club. I honestly think they'd do their best to keep to us up and learn form mistakes. However, it needs the players to grind out some results before January. Billionaires or not I'd rather them pump money into something obtainable than **** it away.
I also have a horrible feeling that if Stendel doesn't go to hearts he might appear at one of our relegation rivals . What's that saying pound foolish penny wise. Imo our owners are showing traits of that
Me neither, I din’t get why they bought us and don’t get why they’re here. Making a right ******** of it and pyssing off the fan base many of whom wont renew next season as a result. They clearly dint share our passion for our club it seems to just be a toy to them.
I watched a documentary about Kevin Pieterson whilst the ashes was going on and he said that Andy Flower was a "mood hoover". I think Stendel's gone, we have a new Head Coach now. Get over it. Do we really need to know what people had for breakfast. Just let the people in charge get on with running the club. If it results in relegation berate them afterwards. I thought results were bad and they did the right thing getting rid of Stendel. Had the statement been compassionate a lot of this debate wouldn't be taking place. They should have had someone lined up. However, if there was a clash of ideals I can see why there wasn't.
Fair point. Maybe putting Dane "out there" a lot more might have gone some way to appeasing the fanbase. Having said that I'm not sure what percentage of the fanbase is up in arms currently. At the fan zone before the Hull game I spoke to quite a few who were far less vocal than people on here about DS leaving. In fact they were more critical of the forum. I love this board....the forum.(!!!!!)...for the clear passion posters have for our club but I often wander just how representative it is of the 11000 who turn up every other week. And please note, that's not a criticism. Its curiosity!
