Worst full back combination in my time watching the reds. Neither can defend or contribute going forward. League Two players at best.
Ben Williams has had some good games in league 1 and championship so hardly league 2 Juries still out on Jordan but he did ok against Hull.
I really think there’s 2 decent players in them, however, they are not up to what we require at the moment. Come to think of it the whole backline is very questionable at best.
Without been too critical neither will have a career at this level, league 1 at best. Recruitment in the summer was a shambles.
Ben I would stick with Jordan had a good haif against Hull but that is all I have seen from him really.
I think Ben's coming on leaps and bounds. I love his tenacity as well. Jordan I'm not sure about. Edit: I've just seen yesterday's goals. Ben turned into trouble for the 2nd and lost it. I don't think you could expect him to win the ball in the air for their 3rd though. I still think he's improving.
We said all summer we needed a left and right back and got neither. Both williams are very poor both defensive and offensive. Look at goals yesterday for prime examples of such. If we had decent full backs they would both be on loan at league 1 or 2 sides learning in a better environment. Mistakes in championship are killers just look at our goals against......
Weren’t too long ago we had Reece Brown & George Smith as full backs do not sure how these two are the worst. It’s not their fault they’re struggling, shouldn’t be thrown in the deep end in a young side
Really? Could’ve sworn they did. Regardless we had worse full backs that season & half in league one before Bree & White emerged. Brown, Smith, Wabara, Dudgeon, Nyatanga
Yes one played mainly the first half of the season the other played the second half. We actually played mason holgate a lot that year (20 starts)
Just looked & saw they played pre-season together & then Smith got injured & by the time he was back we’d realised Brown was useless. Must’ve been pretty demoralising for Brown that season, lost his place to a 16 year old Bree & then a 17 year old (I think) Holgate
They are learning at too high a level and getting slaughtered most weeks. Just think if you were half decent at snooker, decided to take it up and started playing against just very good club players, who could knock 60 breaks....you would maybe get the odd good break and a few good safety shots but ultimately you are out of your depth. You need someone to show and guide you.
Saw nothing last season to suggest jordan William's same with ben, neither were 1st choice last season so to then throw them in the deep end in a harder league is suicidal. Less then 12 months ago young ben got ripped a new one at the keepmoat by a certain malik wilks it was so bad stendel had to bring Zeki fryers on and put him at left back and fryers contained him better.
I think they are both players with potential to be decent at this level, much like the rest of our defence TBH. Finished article & ready to be first choice starters, no. Sadly Pinillos has not got the pace & Cavare has not got the concentration, so these two have been dropped in too early. Ben has put in some good performances & doesn't look a million miles away to me, Jordan, I think it's too early for him. Both Mads & Diaby have dropped some clangers this season. We look decent going forward, but we won't stay in this league with the current defensive line up. Experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience, experience...
Jordan williams shouldn’t be a professional footballer. Ben isn’t and never will be championship quality but there’s couple of hundred league one or two appearances in him I reckon.
Ben is 20 (21 in March). Jordan turned 20 in October. They have about 20 first team appearances each (not sure how many of those are starts). They are doing their best, but they're up against some serious quality/experience at this level, and at the same time they're having to learn on the job. I think you're expecting too much from them.
Fully agree with this. I like Ben because he’s a grafter, doesn’t mean he’s good enough now and I doubt he ever will be.
I get your point and agree with what you say, but frankly I don’t care how old they are at this moment in time they should both be in league two at best and it shows.
Some of the comments in this thread are really unfair. Especially to Ben Williams. He is definitely above L2 standard and would be fine in the Championship if the rest of the defence was any good. He is learning fast. As for J Williams I haven’t seen enough. At this stage of his career he isn’t really ready for the Championship but I can’t say he is only L2 standard at best. The Championship is a big step up from L1
