Well at last a statement from the club and an interview given by Paul Conway on behalf of the board giving a fuller account of what has been going on since the summer. It has gone some way to restoring a little faith in theboard the dealings in January will I feel be a big test of the boars intentions (still think the'plan' is sh@t though. If DStendel was having talks with another championship club without the boards knowledge or consent then that too does justify the boards decision to 'seperate' from BFC along with some of the training staff. So ifs and buts all around . Back to football on Wednesday now and let's hope another win. We could certainly do with it. Still think the plan is hardly inspiring from any fans point of view or any head coach. That's one thing the board need to learn too from the experience....
Respect your view, but it's made it miles worse for me. Not a shred of trust, faith or respect left for these people.
Maybe "The Plan" is the root cause of it all. Selling your better players or not going that extra mile to keep those nearing the end of their contract has caused us to lose two managers (PH and DS) plus members of the training staff not to mention the club's biggest asset....it's fans!
If true what Conway says about Stendal talking to another club while still under contract and without permission then no matter how good Stendal was as a head coach(and I worshipped him) the club was in order at suspending him from his duties as there lie loyalties to the club and supporters just thrown out the window. I just can not see the club coming out with such a statement if not true, I've heard posters saying there are 2 sides to every story if we ear nowt from Stendal then you know who is telling the truth even Trixie should be able to weigh this one up.
The interview made things worse for me. Forget DS, he’s gone, the stubbornness to admit they were wrong in signing too many young players, the refusal to change that strategy, the news that we will sell players in January, the only hope we have in the future of being competitive is if the rest of the league decide to copy Barnsley’s strategy. My view before this interview was that the board were clueless, naive, incompetent to and no interest in the success of Bfc unless it relates to player sales. My views have not changed. And I do not believe their account of DS’s sacking
“I just can not see the club coming out with such a statement if not true.” If that is fooling you, we’re all doomed!
Just read DStendels statement about his side of the story he never mentions talking to another club while still at Barnsley F C so somebody is being economical with the true facts. However we have to move on as we still have the same board with the same pedantic 'plan' that will drive supporters away as our better players will leave and be replaced by cheaper younger players who may or may never be good enough for the second tier.
Best thing to come out of that interview was stretcher stendels was too big, and Ged Diamond only likes a small one. Fwooooaaarrrrr!!!!! Squad porn!!!!
I fully understand your concern and think it's fair to say it's shared by many others including myself . I was a big fan on Daniel Stendel but the situation has done nothing but divide the fans and thats not good.I think the board too have alot to answer for and after the summer sale of many of the club's assets I do worry about further departures and as for the 'Plan' , well I think it will not end well shall we say .
I suppose we'll know more about their true intentions on February 1st next year. Until then I won't believe anything they say, they'll have to prove it by their actions and decisions.
Let's face it, it's a f**king mess. Anyone who loves 'the plan' and those executing it can find something in this **** storm that reinforces their positive opinion of the board. Anyone on the other side of it can find ammunition too. All I can say is...if I'm DS and I didn't speak to another club while Manager of BFC, I make that very very clear in my statement...he didn't. Big 3 points tomorrow night on the long road back....
Good interview I thought, with the right questions asked. I admire the board's stance on remaining debt free and not 'cheating' with their finances. If Stendel was setting up a move elsewhere then good riddance. His replacement seems just as good thus far for me. I'll stick with the club for now, but won't be willing to pay the same price in League One if they are relegated. I hope the plan works but sadly think the EFL will never enforce FFP and it will never be a level playing field.
