If it sounds like ******** it’s probably ******** and this sounds like ********. Managers like players often get approaches from other clubs it’s part of the game.

Probably wrong of me to include trainees ( technically employees) . But the fact remains very few receive professional contracts. Thus retained if given one. We have a squad of 29.All of which have featured in the matchday squad and played at least one game. Struber has identified that it needs trimming down. I agree with him. more quality less quantity.

It doesn’t make it right though does it? The fact that the board are challenging what they perceive as the wrongs within our game seems to get totally trampled on in the determined rush to criticise them.

I assume you mean Hecky as the other. It Would be interesting to hear the facts on that one. Signs new contract then leaves for Leeds shortly after. ( Days if I remember) But one thing is for sure. Leeds multiplied his wages by God knows.

So let’s all break all the rules. Let’s chalk fkc on FFP . Lots of clubs do actually seek permission. As I believe Barnsley did with Struber.

You can't say something and then use that as evidence that other people have said it.

Everyone says Bright red has got a small c0ck

And if you don't believe me just look at this post where I said it. That's proof everyone else said it.

    See what I mean?

Trying my best not to sound patronising cos I’ll get pulled up for doing so. There is no evidence. Hooky feller was just saying that if tapping up happens all the time and everyone is doing it then why not break all the rules (including breaking ffp rules). I don’t go along with either the idea that everyone cheats all the time or that we should cheat whatever.

Mmmmmmm the trouble with the moral high ground is that ....it puts you under even more scruitiny.
Our board have not covered tbemselves in glory in this department or endeared themselves to the fan base.
However they seem to believe the they are right on the compo thing ....hearts have now instructed lawyers....so this will be very interesting.
The thing that worries me most is......the constant b s statements and the nice thing.....just worries me.

Wow, it's taken me two days to get through this thread! My thoughts for what they're worth...

    1. If we're to assume the 'Championship club' was Huddersfield, they appointed Cowley on the 8th of September. We sacked Stendel on the 8th of October. Is it really a coincidence that the board found out about Stendel's supposed disloyalty in the days following a 5-1 drubbing? Or is it not possible that the sacking was results based, added to by disagreements over recruitment and experience and they merely used his talks with another club as a legal excuse to remove him, whilst placing him on gardening leave meant we could claim damages from the offending club (Huddersfield)? Why else would you not sack him for gross misconduct, get it over and done with and be free of having to pay him up? Unless compo money was worth more to the club...

    2. Conway uses the interview to prepare the fans for January sales, claiming we have too big a squad. Do we really? Pinillos and Cavare's absence would suggest they're on their way out, but are we really flush with options at full back?

    3. Conway's approach and language is just very distasteful. It feels bitter and classless, still. If Stendel did talk to another club (and I've no reason to think he didn't), well frankly it happens all the time. Huddersfield obviously didn't want him as they never made an approach. If they did, they would have made an offer to us. Is it not possible that it was a mere sounding out that never went any further and that 'tampering' went as far as DS letting his colleagues know he'd been approached, as any pal would to a pal? Clubs are rarely so bitter and aggressive about such murky doings in the footballing world. The club STILL haven't placed their thanks to Stendel for his service and seem to be obsessed with the idea that they 'own his rights' - a phrase which Conway used which is actually quite chilling when you think it through.

There is still such a lack of information out there that we still haven't a scooby what exactly has happened and so it's natural we will speculate. But here's my theory.

The owners wanted rid of Stendel because of results and because they became impatient with his challenges to their strategy. But they realised they could profit financially from this by playing on their knowledge of his talks with another club a month previously. Doing this would mean the 'damages' we sued the other club (possibly Daniel himself) for would not only pay his contract up so we didn't have to, but potentially also cover the outlay (losses) on bringing in a new coach. What the club didn't expect, was for him to take up employment with Hearts. That's why the club are now pursuing THEM for compensation (and presumably still Huddersfield or whoever it was too) as they have engineered things, they believe, so that they can legally profit from Daniel Stendel having supposedly wronged us.

No, I wouldn't applaud the owners for being hard nosed, business-like and getting a good deal for the club if that were the case. I'd think it incredibly petty and a vile attempt to besmirch a man's reputation and compromise his chances of securing employment just so we can make money from him. That might be standard in the business world, but it's not the way of the Barnsley Football Club I grew to love.

Yup that’s exactly what I said.

Do you not think we would have sounded Struber out informally. If not you are living in dreamland.

every successful manager and player we have will have had informal discussions with other clubs. I know personally that several of our 1997 team were for example. Should we have sacked them? Do you not think that Woodrows’ agent isn’t informally looking at exit routes should we get relegated shall we sack him?

Tapping up is rife. Get caught and you should be punished. If not change the rules. We are not
the only club to take this kind of stance. Or are you blind.

So if say Mowatt and Woodrow have been approached by other clubs and their agents have engaged in any way it’s your babies they should be sacked?
