In my memory - won 5-3 at Birmingham, lost 5-3 at Stoke (after going 2-0 up very early on), lost 5-3 at home to MK Dons

That tactic went well for Leeds didn't it?

Think the last home one before Vaz Te in the second tier was hignett against Walsall in 1999.
I think the stoke game was 5-4.

I was there at that 5-3 victory at Birmingham and you've reminded me of it. A couple of days ago there was a thread on here about the merits or otherwise of booing at games. That game at Birmingham was unique in my memory, never seen anything like it before or since.

In those days the teams used to come out onto the field separately. As the Birmingham team came out they were booed mercilessly by their own supporters, and it continued until kick off, by which time they were bereft of confidence and we hammered them. I actually felt sorry for their players that day, quite bizarre.

So, what you are saying is that on the day that one of our own got a hat trick , we got our first penalty in forever, we score five goals and by and large things went pretty well, you (and Jay apparently ) weren’t there? .....hmmmmmmm

You might be right actually. I've blanked it out due to the immense disappointment at fluffing a comfortable lead!

Didn't we lose 5-3 at home to Ipswich under Hill a few years ago after being 2-0 up and coasting?

Booing before the kick off is very odd. What had they done to bring such wrath on themselves? I remember I went to watch Grantham Town that day. I knew we were winning 2-0 at half time as they read out the scores. Imagine my horror when watching the videprinter at full time back at my uncle's place, and "Birmingham City 3" appeared!

Sir. You’re entitled neither to ask nor to know the answers to these questions. You’ve just shown yourself to be an uncommitted, Jonny come lately, part time, glory hunting supporter.

On 5-3 games, was anyone at Spurs for a league cup game in the 80s? I was waiting outside the away supporters entrance (I was young and naive) when a guy with spurs tattooed on his head asked whether I was from Barnsley. Hard to hide with my accent (especially then) but turned out he just wanted to chat about the first leg at Oakwell.

Yep, I was there. I remember a bizarre goal from Ian Chandler. He somehow robbed the ball from the goalkeeper on the goal line near the corner flag. No sign of any defenders. He then dribbled it along the goal line towards the goal, with the keeper on his arse, and just walked it in. Would love to see a video of it!

    Wasn't there a 5-3 under Bassett?

You may well be right, mate, but I don't recall one. Then again, my memory's got as many holes in it these days as a Swiss cheese!

Will try & rack my brain. There was either a 5-2 or 5-3 at home under his tenure, as I remember hearing a bunch of fans moaning, walking out of the ground that our defence was ****....

We did, it was live on telly too - from memory we gave up defending in the second half.

    Have checked & there wasn't. We beat Pompey 6-0 & Blackburn 5-1.

To be honest, after Bassett was sacked & replaced by Spackman I turned heavily to the bottle & all recollections are somewhat clouded.

Saturday was better than our last Oakwell 5-3 when we lost to MK Dons.

On a random tangent but do you remember a little period 1987/88 season when Wilde came back in the side and we beat Reading (I think) and Stoke 5-2

just checked and it was 20/10/87 and 31/10/87
