Bit of a nothing story. They're entitled to down-time. I haven't been too impressed with Wilks to date, but you'd think he'd be a decent option in this Struber side, in one of the front positions. Can't pretend I'd be disappointed if we move him on though next month.
True it doesn't show him or Jordan Williams for that matter in the greatest light. We keep being told how short a footballers career is...well it'll be a bit shorter if it includes smoking or boozing that's for sure. If it's the Christmas do then fair enough but midweek boozing or smoking/vaping is hardly recommended for a professional athlete's fitness level is it? After all the pressing game requires a high standard of fitness doesn't it as does competing at higher level football. Plus posting pictures in that state of your self on social media is hardly wise or showing much maturity either.
He didn’t. It was posted on social media sunday night who’d screenshotted it off his snapchat profile. If we’re taking that photo at face value I’d be more concerned about young Jordan who looks like he belongs near Peel square toilets.
the lad is a very talented player and full of potential his main problem ( on the pitch) is he goes down quicker than an amsterdam hooker, as soon as anyone goes near him its like watching norman wisdom. off the pitch i dont know the lad so i couldnt comment
Lord give me strength. I rolled into jobs pissed up many a time when I was a young un. The sheer hypocrisy on here is ridiculous.
I don't agree with this particular hounding of Wilks when he was on a christmas do with his mates but this a poor excuse. In any line of business it's unprofessional to get onto the job still under the influence of drugs or alcohol (hence the random D&As that happen across various sites in the UK). It's especially unprofessional if a bit part of your job role is relying on your fitness and taking care of your body. That being said, they weren't rolling into training the next day still all half cut and they weren't playing a game for a week, so as long as they don't end up scrapping and they can work off any alcohol in their body through hard running then knock yourselves out i say, chances like christmas parties are rare for footballers.
He has had one clear pen turned down earlier on in the season on other occasions he has gone down easily. Someone needs to tell him were Barnsley we dont even get the stonewall pens we have had one pen in twenty odd games. I like wilks one of the few players we have who will take a player on think he will come good.
I think it's a surprise in this day and age of football players supposedly being fitter than ever before and having so much modern fitness stuff to help them, that they still smoke up their lungs with cancer sticks.
I find it odd how he’s been out of the squad for weeks with an apparent illness, and on match days he’s seemingly never at the game. Other players not in the squad tend to be around the place still. Similarly, Pinillos and his mystery eye problem seems an odd one, to me.
Okay well, on another topic someone who earns top draw money for us isn't very focused. But that's okay.
As everyone had repeatedly stated, it was on the Christmas do. You can post things on social media after they occurred. Looks to me like he was at a shisha bar. With another of our players who seems to have escaped any criticism. If this is something he chooses to do once a year (e.g. at a Christmas party), then it is hardly gonna impact on his fitness. There's very little evidence of him having any kind of attitude problem since he's been at our club and to me the accusations stink of lazy stereotyping.
I worked at Hills Building Supplies on Wakey Road years ago. The gaffers son Steve was big mates with Messrs Butler, O Connell and Taggart. I’d often be despatched to collect Steve from Penistone club on a mid week afternoon where the four of them would have met up for a cheeky mid week session. Difference is back then mobile phones were rare and social media hadn't been invented. I’m worried that Wilks will turn himself into the next Mellis if he’s not careful, but don’t think that some of these young lads in great money arent going to enjoy it.
No it wasn’t. It definitely wasn’t. It was posted by a third party on social media on 16/12/19 at 00:12 So how did they get hold of the photo before he posted it on social media 24 hour later?
Just for craic, here is the latest edition to “what is going through Malliks head today” pick the bones out of that one then.
