The one I have been waiting for a good explanation for is for someone to explain why bringing down trade barriers with countries we trade very little with will have a big economic impact but putting them up with a bloc we do a lot of trade with is no big deal

A chap I know said to me today, "how many people do you see clinging to boats in the north sea?" I said, "none". He said, "exactly and told me people will believe whatever is put on the news and nobody wants to fecking be here anymore." He reckons immigration issues are drummed up and our problems are closer to home.

He then went on to make the point you've just made about trade.

Current trade deals that will be rolled over and when they were signed...

Some real mega powers amongst that lot ;)

A deal with Japan that is 2% of our trade won't be ready.

Where the UK trades as of 2018..

Last week proved that policies few want to vote for do not win elections anymore. It’s an insult to your townsfolk and to the working class to keep making out that we were hoodwinked by the tory media. Same nonsense on brexit. We’ve had over 3 years to learn more about what we were voting for and the country has voted overwhelmingly. Meanwhile the marxist clings on in order to ensure that the hard left don’t lose their grip. No one wants it, hence the election result. Stop insulting the ordinary folk who didn't vote for it and realize its corbyn and his policies folk dont want. Until you and your ilk are prepared to drop the perpetual denial and listen the labour party are dead in the water.

Yes they did - against Brexit! Yet again, Trixie, you need to check the numbers first. Remain/2nd referendum parties got more votes than Leave parties. Every poll over the last few months has shown remain with a small majority over leave, and this held true in the GE votes.

your own protestations on here over the past months dispel your own theory straight away. without going through your own posts i remember you stated there was a lot to like about labours policies, but you didn't like corbyn. you also stated you hadn't voted labour since 1997, so i think that proves policies dont and didn't matter to you.

if you truly believe the media isn't important then how do you know so many "truths" about Corbyn. the media!

I understand that MF but it was as close as the referendum result and when you factor in those who voted tactically ( I cant vote for the tories, hate corbyn so will vote lib dem ) I’d imagine that overall brexit won the day. What’s apparent is after all this time there are folk still prejudiced against leave voters or anyone who didnt vote for corbyn.

Not really . I'm struggling to think of 1 centrist party doing well at the moment in the western hemisphere . I mean there is macron and his en Marche party but the last time I checked the French were still rioting in the streets . Spain , nope . Italy nope . In Germany the SDP has virtually collapsed with gains to afd/ der linke . The US is an obvious no . In Canada Trudeau managed to hold on but not by much with large gains to the right . Belgium maybe ? As far as I can see there's no centrist party pulling up trees , their all loosing ground .

Nonsense, you’re in danger of becoming a parody of the cult of corbyn currently infesting the labour party, of course policies matter and if course some of the labour manifesto had its merits, but on balance not enough to win my vote and his 85 billion scattergun approach spending spree funded by increased taxation and huge borrowing scared away many voters as he desperately promised free stuff to everyone. Of course the media have a part to play, you’ll demonize the daily mail with its ring wing bias whilst doubtless lapping up the guardian without acknowledging the hypocrisy. There are facts about Corbyn in the media, on the internet which are undisputed by him or his lawyers. The trouble is there are far too many cultists readily dismissing the result as media bias because they cant admit that the majority rejected corbyn and what labour offered.

there really are no words. It’s here, you wrote it, your own thoughts allegedly for us all to see. it didn’t matter one jot what labour had in their manifesto, don’t try and pretend you might have voted labour. You wouldn’t, haven’t and didn’t.

You’ve actually even written it above! “Rejecting Corbyn” people first not policies.

keep on keeping on anyway fella, il await your thoughts on the next leader when the media have given them to you.

As a previous labour voter and now floater, who of the possible candidates would entice you back to voting for them ?

Thats a great question Shenk and the answer is that I don’t know enough about any of them to decide. But I will. That is of course assuming that what is reported can be trusted. I’ve always liked Caroline Flint. But alas....

You seem to confuse what I’m posting with what you think I’m posting. Are you dehydrated ? It can cause confusion. Sip some water than read on : I acknowledge that some of labours manifesto had some appeal, building council houses again and scrapping universal credit for example. But as expected from the far left there was more to worry about than to support so even if corbyn hadn't been leader they wouldn't have gotten my vote. However, corbyn was leader and whether you want to dismiss his handling of antisemitism and support of the ira as media lies or not for me the evidence was enough to damn him and in that basis I could never support a government he headed. I don’t need anyone to tell me how to think thanks, I don’t read the guardian and haven't been radicalized by momentum. For some reason you insist that those who don't share your views on brexit or labour have been conned by propaganda and cant think for themselves. Do you have a mirror at home ?

i take it you include labour in the remain camp.. well for what its worth i voted labour and i'm all for ditching the eu and voted leave..I also know plenty of others who did the same because even tho they voted leave they would never ever vote for the tories or the brexit party

ps, the polls before the referendum in 2016 had remain edging it and look where we finished up

The best Labour MP there was, and even she lost. Her words in this letter are on point and she sums it all up so well. What a loss to politics she will be.
