I dont think it's the most reliable source... https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/h...tial-replacement-for-newcastle-united-target/
According to posts at the time, Wilks cost us 1.2 million . Can you see anyone wanting to fork out anything near that for him now? I think not and Hull City are still defaulting on the final payment for Angus Mc Donald as I last heard so hardly reliable are they.? I would still prefer him to do the business for us but haven't seen anything so far to suggest this happening so far this season.
Needs to move on one way or another whilst we retain an interest in his future. He’s not a team player. Will never fit in with what we are trying to build.
Played under Grant McCann at the Pikeys last season (and was excellent), Struber doesn't seem to rate him and Stendel didn't give him much game time earlier in the season. I am almost certain he will be a Hull City player come the 31st January as they will be looking to replace the lad Bowen. It's an interesting one with Wilks, in the little I've seen him play he's been absolutely gash and nowhere near good enough, also seemed like a lack of effort which is totally unacceptable. However, given more game time and experience at this level could he have turned it around? With the court case also hanging over him I'm just not sure he's worth persevering with, especially if we get back as a minimum what we paid for him if not more.
Can't see why we^d get more or even as much given that' he's not been playing recently and not scored goals.
If our system is buying young players, developing them then selling at a profit then it seems abit backwards to get rid after a few months just because they arent performing! Especially ones that have shown they can do it in the league below! If he was 2 years in and was at the same stage then i could understand some of these views...... I think he's been unlucky and deserves a run of games just like alot of other underperforming players have had.
He played in every game under Stendel, starting in nearly all of them. If he is to get back into the match day squad he needs to show some interest and commitment.
Stendel was in charge of the first 12 matches, but my point his that he was given every chance to make his mark and to say that he has been unlucky etc is a bit wide of the mark
He's been rubbish in most games he's played, imho. As have the majority of the squad until the last few weeks, which is why we were bottom of the table and didn't win a game for four months. I don't think any of his performances were as catastrophic as some of the those playing regularly now.
Contrary to what you read on here he’s really well liked in the squad and is working hard to get back fit and in the team. The lad obviously has a difficult past but told he now just spends his time at home with his family and his dog. Best mates with Chaplin I think. Suggestions he has a bad attitude and looking for a move away are wide of the mark. From what I’ve heard Struber rates him but he’s just been struggling with niggling injuries of late. Does seem a bit odd he hasn’t featured at all though. Do wonder if there’s something else going on. I think he’s a good fit for the Chaplin/Brown role in this formation as he’s comfortable inside and outside. I never questioned his work rate while he was in the team, only the fact he gave the ball away pretty much 9 times out of 10 he had it!
Same as alot of other players then that continued to get picked even tho they were making mistakes etc? We just had the 'luxury' if you can call it that of swapping him out.
Yes the squad as whole were making too many mistakes which fortunately Struber has managed to iron out to a great extent. However the effort and commitment was always there and it is this part of Wilks’s game that I question. Murray brought him on a few times and his body language suggested to me that he just wasn’t interested. If he goes onto prove me wrong I will be as delighted as the rest of the fans.
Somebody on a Donny page said they spoke with him recently and asked him why he was not playing and he said he’d had a couple of injuries and was now working on getting to full fitness, which sounds similar to what you’ve just said. The way it was written/I read it was he was literally just starting on the fitness part.
Didn't look like a quite night with the dog when he was taking the piss out of the paying fans in the pic he posted. Christmas do or not he's an athlete and in my opinion certain behaviour isn't acceptable. Although I do accept that he's not alone and there's quite a few out there who will never reach their potential because like him they simply don't care enough to put their sporting career first
