If I recall correctly Fleetwood only brought about 100 more than that for our league one fixture last season. They are significantly closer and it wasn't Xmas.
Lets face it lads, who wants to make the effort when theres a strong smell of fish... and Im talking about football here, nowt else.
Definitely not. I used to watch Lincoln a lot as a kid, and midweek, teams would regularly bring less. The record low I counted was six from Chester. Chester won 3-0 as well! I was told Torquay brought four on a Tuesday night, though I didn't see it myself.
Credit to every one of the Crawley following that was even less than Macclesfield for their own league two long distance trip...
Absolutely. Much more harrowing journey for Crawley fans, over 8.5 hour round trip and the M25 to contend with. Macclesfield only 2.5 hours to Forest Green, M6/M5. Respect to both sets of fans though. And of course our own Reds
Didn't Wigan only take 19 away to Arsenal once? Wigan also only took 57 to Spurs away one year, and unfortunately lost 9-1 hahaha.
to be fair when you actually think about it travelling long distances and spending wads of cash just to watch a game of footy for 90 mins... its a bit bonkers. iptv is gonna put a dent in the numbers even more. need to be able to make a day of it really but some just go there and back.
In the early 80s we played Cambridge at home on a Tuesday night. It was chucking it down and the game was abandoned at half time. There was one bloke on the kop. The Ponty sang him a song, performed one night only. Anyone remember it?
