Mcgeehan, Cavare, Dougal, Thiam, Pinnilos, dropped

Brown not playing wingback or full back but back in his natural position

    Odour coming in

    Halme as defensive midfielder

    Woodrow playing midfield

Improving Chaplin, Diaby, Williams and Anderson significantly.

Giving more playing time to Thomas recently.

Its quite significant changes in our team and line up by Struber from Stendels reign, very brave and confidence from the new manager the only constant is Mowatt.

The key is application and playing players like for like. If Mowatt gets injured you play Bahre etc.

The other thing I've noticed is that apart from a short settling in period, he's tried to keep the first eleven as consistent as possible. Even his subs are now predictable - Bahre, Schmidt, one other if necessary. A settled side can only be a good thing.

Im sure they will try to sell those players on and bring in a couple more that Struber knows or wants that would compliment how he wants to play and the players we have.

I thought it was madness playing Halme instead of Dougal, I would have played Mcgeehan and Cavare, id never thought a front 2 of Chaplin and Brown would have worked in the championship and to continue playing out from the back after the cockups made by the defence shows great knowledge because this way of playng is helping the forward players to shine rather than lumping it up front which again is what i would have advised.

It shows that Struber knows more than me and i was miles off in my spoutings on here about formations and team selections.

    Or any of us.

It's almost like it's his job to figure **** like this out or something and we're just internet wannabe coaches.

That's it though, I'd also have Cavare in instead of Williams and Dougal instead of Halme. I think as players they are both miles ahead but Dimi cant even get on the bench!

If you want my opinion on both players for what it's worth.......

J Williams is inexperienced and quite slow for a fullback, he can get exposed in the championship, especially when he's expected to create width.
Cavare is far quicker and stronger than Williams but is a bit slow to regain his defensive position.

Halme looks leggy and seems to play too safe. His range of forward passing isn't great.
Dougal has more experience, seems to pop up in pockets going forward and his range of passing is pretty good. I also like how he's always in the Ref's ear.

McGeehan isn't defensively aware, runs around a lot and has a habit of giving the ball away, forcing the play rather than recycling.
He wouldn't be anywhere near my 11.

I fully expect Cavare, Pinnilos, Green and McGeehan to be moved out next month.

I very much doubt we've seen the last of Dougal. It's a squad game, and he's a classy player when at his best. And versatile.

I largely agree. I think J Williams has largely done OK. He was struggling against £18 million Ayew, but most full backs would be. We still need cover for that position if Cavare leaves, which I expect him to, if we can offload him in January. If we can get a better right back, I'd expect Jordan to be understudy for that position.

Given our improved results since Halme has been moved into the holding role at the bottom of the diamond, I think it's his position to lose. His extra height is also a plus at set pieces in both boxes. Suspensions / injuries will mean Kenny will get game time covering at some point. As screen for the defence a player in that position often has to take one for the team, before the opposing player gets near the box.
