Not seen anyone say Stendel is ***t... Boy done good, but in my opinion not phenomenal Struber very much an unknown, but fair play for clean sheet today... and still has unbeaten home record in Championship since taking over...
Here we go again. First Heckingbottom, now Stendel. We exaggerate their coaching abilities while they are here and then pull them to bits once they've gone. As usual the truth is somewhere in between.
Correct. We also had our first season unbeaten in the league at home since 1968. We also had the best defensive record in the entire EFL. We also accumulated a club record points total for a season since three points for a win started. We also had five players in the PFA Division 1 Team Of The Season. We also had four players in the EFL Division 1 Team Of The Season. We also had the EFL Division 1 Manager/Head Coach Of The Season. We also had two players in the Team Of The Season for the entire EFL. We won automatic promotion for the first time in 22 years. But, apparently, it was all down to Portsmouth and Sunderland bottling it and nothing to do with us! In the spirit of rewriting history to meet a personal agenda, don't forget the Soviet Union were the first to put a man on the moon, the Americans won the Vietnam War and Margaret Thatcher played prop forward for Featherstone Rovers!
It's so boring. Heckingbottom and Stendel were superb coaches for us. They played huge roles in some of the most special seasons in our history. Yes, things soured. They always do. And will with Struber eventually. But rewriting history is boring.
Jack Charlton got it right. Every Head Coach/ Manager has a shelf life. Some longer than overs. In their first year everyone listens in the second year half of them listen. In the third year if you don't freshen it up no one listens and you're in trouble. Flitcroft, Heckingbottom and Stendel exhausted that shelf life for whatever reason. Hence they no longer coach at Barnsley F.C. Granted Heckingbottom left for Leeds but he'd have been sacked had he stayed. I just enjoy the good results when they come because I'm sure I'll be slating Struber when they don't.
Let’s just remember last season for what it was and evaluate this season based on facts. There’s no quarms that we had one of the best teams in the league last season and all it took was a good motivator to get them back up - which is what we had. Stendels personality was infectious and the players bought into him, as did the fans He took us as far as he could this season because he didn’t have the tactical nous to outsmart teams in this league. Struber so far is showing the qualities and tactical approach to win games. It’s as simple as that. Coupled with the fact Stendel was causing unrest in the background led to his downfall. Thank you for the good times but let’s hope the decisions made by the board pays off and this season ends a success. One things for sure, there’s a sense of optimism around the place, which dwindled away before strubers appointment
I think it was the late equaliser at home to Charlton that killed the good feeling under Stendel. They never seemed to pick themselves up after that.
Because Rh, to some ....as soon as anyone leaves our club, for whatever reason, they become **** and the anti christ....and lucky!!
I’m happy to admit that with both managers the board was right and those if us crying out for an experienced championship manager got it wrong, DS was a huge success for the board on many fronts, the jury is still out on Struber but he appears to have got to grips with our players much quicker than Daniel has at Hearts. Fair play to the board on both counts, now please don’t get it wrong again next month and listen to what your coach and fans are asking for !
Derby? Think if it hadn't been so poor at Preston ( I didnt go so only gave other peoples reports) then the tide may have turned, especially as Dougal was back and DS would have had a fully fit squad to pick from. The effort and application was there, they're growing into the championship now. Look at Woodgate and Middlesbrough, they didnt sack him and things are looking up for him.
