Thought It was Pinnock and Lindsay that were out of contract in the summer? HAventis we got that 1 year extension clause in our favour with Mowatt?

    From Nov 2018

Barnsley Football Club are delighted to announce that Alex Mowatt has signed a new contract at Oakwell!

The midfielder has been in magnificent form this season, receiving the ‘Player of the Month’ award for August, September and October, voted for by the fans!

Signing a new contract until the summer of 2020, with the option of a further year in favour of Barnsley Football Club, Mowatt has committed his future at Oakwell and has clear intentions of what he wants to happen in that time-frame.

Didn't the club have the option of a further year on Mowatt?

I'd have thought that with West Brom desperate for a striker and with the two absolute belters he scored at their place, I wouldn't rule out a bid from them..

I'd say the problem with Wilks will be the fee... can't see us taking a loss on him. And not done nowhere near enough to warrant a million pound transfer fee unless Hull are desperate ... Can see him going back to Donny on loan missen.

Needs to be back up front and scoring again to even warrant such figures. At the minute hes neither. Hes certainly not a 10 million pound attacking midfielder.

I think a loan somewhere wouldn't be out of the question, maybe with an option to buy at the end. That might get the deal over the line with Hull maybe. McCann seems to have got the best out of him at Donny, so that may be a good move for him. I think he may well come good, if the court case doesn't see him convicted. He has pace, it just doesn't seem to have happened for him at Barnsley.

GS seems to be getting a few of the under performers to start putting a decent shift in, I hope this can be the case with Wilks. A decent talent going to waste at minute. If he can get back to the form he was on at Donny then bringing him off bench and playing him up top could be a game changer. But until he pulls his finger art he’s not gunna get a look in.

Really hope we don’t get lumbered with 2 or 3 crap old has beens because anyone who’s any good will be on 13/14k plus a week and we don’t pay that.
I’d rather a couple of decent loans with their wages being shared.

Yep that West Brom. The same West Brom that took the defender from Rotherham that no one had heard of and is now going for the prem

That's a fair point of course. But at this point in the season, a key player settled in the team is worth more to us than his objective market value. Plus January prices are always wildly inflated (unless we are the selling club!). On a long contract, so absolutely no need to sell in January for anything less than a crazy offer. I just hope that the board see things the same way.

According to West Brom fans he's there top target as well.. Don't think they'd have much of a chance if Newcastle are in for him tho..

People worrying about Woodrow and Mowatt leaving??? It would be Conor Chaplin being poached that would worry me more than Cauley. Mowatt certainly needs to stay at least to the end of season and hopefully for the option of extended year after that.

With him doing well now and scoring, i'd be worried if we went back down. Wouldn't have thought he'd want to drop back to L1 now he's tasted the championship..
