Root should have resigned after the summer's ashes series had finished. A good batsman he is but a captain he is not.

The ECB need to look at the whole county system and 4 day cricket because until we sort the game at domestic level then this England team will be nowhere near good enough.

101 for 1 is more like it.

255 needed in two days of 90 overs and with 9 wickets remaining so we can win going at 1.41 an over.

Our highest opening partnership since Chennai in 2016 and a very good innings so far by Burns. It could be worth waking up for start of play. Hopefully lessons of the first innings collapse have been learned and our under the weather batters like Root feel better after a sleep.

all kinds of incidents can now hinder the 15 overs per hour average now with the review system, how long did the ben stokes "non catch" yesterday take to sort out? no fault by either team but took an age to find the correct result, probably time for nearly a spinners over,
years ago the batter would have just walked on the fielders say so, but even stokes wasn't convinced.
it's out-dated now and to avoid the "rip-off" comments on ticket prices the ICC needs to either alter the standard 90 overs to 85 or extend the sessions to 2hrs 10 to compensate
and enforced batting in bad light would encourage a slow over rate btw

Not the worse morning but could have obviously been better. Burns didn't get himself in again with it being a new day and was out to a silly shot without adding too many more runs. Denly won't like getting out to the same guy in both innings, but it was a decent bowl. Stokes with 4 off 35 is my kind of innings and the amount of maiden overs in that first session was good sensible batting. We have the whole of tomorrow still so keep tiring the fast bowlers out who already look to be running out of steam. By tea we need to lose no more than another two wickets and have the total needed nicely under 150.

Bairstow would rather play for Yorkshire than England next summer with that stupid stupid t20 stroke.

I love Bairstow but I fear he's just played his last shot in test match cricket.

So bad. Not the first time a player has been injured by stupidly playing a sport that doesn't concern them. They need to stop it off now.

So you are suggesting that England Cricketers must be banned from participating in any other sports for pleasure - you really know how to motivate people. Why stop there what if my employer had banned me playing sports in case I hurt myself and was unable to work for a few weeks
or why stop at sports - I guy I worked with at a previous job was involved with "The Sealed Knott" and was off work for a few weeks with a shattered foot after someone dropped a cannon ball on it ( we didnt laugh honest) maybe that should be banned too
Actually most accidents occur in the home maybe we should stop our cricketers living there and put them in padded safe rooms

I thought you were being too optimistic but at 215-5 there is a chance we might just make 250 after all - not holding my breath though

Nothing good can come from cricketers getting ready for a cricket match by playing contact football. It's not the first time this kinda thing has happened.

Thankfully so far we are doing alright from batting first but I wouldn't be backing us at odds on like we currently are.

    231 - 8 is even worse!

win the toss on a road, make a pretty 30 and get out. Absolutely shocking England.
