I Thought tonight that we just looked leggy. Derby were similar but were boosted by Rooney which I think helped give them an extra 10%. We weren’t any worse than Derby - and they have a large squad, big wages and with no injury issues might be further up the league. A good break and try and mix the team up for the Cup game to rest some legs. However I imagine some fringe players won’t play as they’ll be finalising transfers (Cavare, Thiam, Pinnillos etc). We can’t win every game, and we weren’t outplayed or bullied tonight. Just one of those games. Frustrating yes, but nothing more. On to the next game....
Poor first touch from the off which is worrying. As Struber says, to stand any chance of staying up we need to play for and concentrate for the full 90+ minutes.
Thought we was poor all over pitch tonight , passing poor , defending shocking again . We need 3/4 players with quality from the transfer window
Seen much worse this season from us. It was nowhere near that level. Leggy and jaded. Just one of those you’ve got to chalk off. All teams have them. If we were mid-table now, we’d move on forget about it.
We looked knackerd and well off the pace tonight. Two centre halves were shocking and the distribution was even worse. Defending for both goals were school boys yet again and we only scored cos their keeper fluffed one. They missed a hat full of easy chances and we created very little. Really missed woodrow linking all the play together. On a plus lets hope thats bahre's last game for a good while.....
They could and should have been 3 nil up at half time our defence is still the joke it was pre season either two sets of coaching staff are either blind or inept or the defence simply aren't up to the task in hand I'm guessing it's probably the latter their positional sense is non existent.
Second best against a team who weren’t all that good themselves. First half our distribution & decision making all over the pitch was poor. Both centre backs were as poor as they’ve been this season. Conceding in the 45th minute in the way that we did was very poor indeed. Second half we improved without ever looking a real goal threat( goal apart obviously) Ball not sticking up front and some players decision making still poor. One of our better and most consistent players could and should’ve closed that cross down that led to their second and Diaby was caught ball- watching again. Composure, nous, and for some players, belief we’re all missing tonight. However, they tried and the effort was there. Also, showed how much we missed Woodrow.
I think that 17 game run without a win will ultimately cost us. Stop the cross and you stop the goal and we didn’t do that.
Thought the way they blocked us in midfield was very good. Don’t know why we always have to pull the opposition down when we get beat. It was a strange team selection, but I don’t know what was behind that. Bahre just wasn’t doing the job, he had the opportunity and didn’t make it.
We could have been 3-0 down before Derby scored but thankfully they missed some one on one with Radlinger who played very well. The two centre backs were being pulled all over the place . Bahre was shocking and Struber was right to bring him off.Simoes made the difference when he came on and Odour too played well. Schmidt was totally ineffective up front as a replacement for CWoodrow. Sorry to say it but got what we deserved in the end. No lack off effort from the lads but little cohesion up front and non at all in central defence. Now is the time to keep our better players, get rid of the deadwood and bring in some experience in loans and / or signings. Think we have seen the last of Cavare, Pinillos, Thiam, Green and probably Wilks (if rumours are to be believed)
Dont forget this is playing into the owners hands regarding the plan. Wonder what their reaction is after yet another defeat? The next four weeks will clarify this, as we have all said.
i agree with this I thought Derby set you well against us and stopped us from playing. Credit where it is due. Rooney was also a class above, his passing was sublime and he made a difference. still fuming about that penalty mind..
We weren't sharp enough mentally. There were opportunities second half, if players had taken the time to look for the spaces and the runs. Instead we kept our heads down and ran into blind alleys or tried to thread the ball through the eye of a needle. Time to give these lads a week off. Stick a whole new eleven in for the cup game, even if it means signing @Jay for midfield and playing Bahre for a full 90. I wouldn't normally countenance playing a weakened side, but that's how important this season is. Whatever it takes to survive.
We made Marriot look like Wayne Rooney when he played against Andorra..... They didn’t have to set much up, we passed to them in dangerous areas throughout the game and or lost the ball when pressed because they were too slow to release the ball. We were never going to be the team winning a penalty...
