The Club acknowledges that it has been charged with the following:

“Barnsley FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.

“It is alleged that the club failed to ensure its spectators, and all persons purporting to be its supporters or followers, conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and refrained from using abusive and/or insulting words which included a reference, whether express or implied, to nationality and/or religion and/or beliefs, while attending an EFL Championship fixture against Stoke City FC on Saturday 9 November 2019.

“Barnsley FC has until Friday 10 January 2020 to respond.”

Barnsley Football Club has a zero tolerance policy on any form of discrimination. As a club, we are saddened to have had this charge brought against us. Since the incident was first reported, as a club, we have been thoroughly investigating and we will continue to do so.

Anybody found to be involved in any form of abusive behaviour when representing Barnsley Football Club will be banned from attending matches.

We will await and respect the outcome of the FA’s charge against us before communicating further on this matter.

People who sing that song, and the Bambo one, are idiots and deserve banning.

Isn't this about the Stoke player James McClean? Huddersfield can expect something similar then.

Taken them a long time to charge the club - what specific offence the charge is a bit vague- is this the Diaby song or were some fans hurling abuse at Stoke players

Thoroughly investigating? Two months later and despite all modern ways such as extensive CCTV footage they still have no idea who's to blame.

If they don’t get banned send them to school for education. I have family who fought in the OLD troubles not the previous. And my great grandad was a good guy and loved English people. He would be offended that these latest provos from the north are brought in the same category as his generation.

All I’m saying some people haven’t got a clue what they are singing about. Leave all this rubbish to the teams in Glasgow as they both seem to get away with it. Ps time for a beer been a long day today at work and role on Sunday

I think you are right. It was well out of order in my book. I don't want to get into the argument about McClean's stance, but there were a lot of idiots singing it.

I dont have an issue with anybody deciding not to wear a Poppy .
    But ...
As I wasn't there is it true that McLean turned his back when the Last Post was played ?

If so that could be classed as incitement ie " The action of provoking unlawful behaviour "

Ah let’s all defend terrorists and the church ! Let’s face it Religion causes more wars than anything and They don’t have the best reputation for sex offences again children “allegedly”, yet the green and white scum from Glasgow glorify the murder of Lee Rigby and oppose the monarchy but some Barnsley fans sing anti terrorist songs and get charged ! And fellow fans call for em to be banned get a fkn grip. And no I didn’t sing it but in my opinion McClean is he’s entitled to stand by his decision but I believe his justification is fair game for criticism.

Catholic priests dont have the best reputation for sex offences against children. But the faith is the most practised form of cristianty in the world. And I dont think all celtic fans sing that just a small minority same as the ones singing **** the ira.
I'm not religious but if you come to a game off football and sing about terrorists and **** the Pope you need to sort yourself out.
