    He was banned from driving for more than two years in 2014 when he admitted to careless driving and failing to provide a further breath test following a car crash.

    In addition to a 28-month ban, Acorah received a £1000 fine and had to pay a £100 victim surcharge.

    It's haunted him ever since

    However he was loved by his family so condolences to them

    A lady who lives near us is a healer/medium/other things and used to work as part of the Most Haunted programme.
    She doesn't have much good to say about him.
    Didn't say what she thought but you got the idea that "con man" wouldn't have been inappropriate.

    He turned up one night at my brother in laws unannounced one night and proceeded to tell his wife about her dead brother watching over her etc.
    To this day she still believes he was genuine

    As much as he was a bit dodgy, he was a great character. He and Richard Felix made most haunted a great programme. Went waayyy down in quality after they left. Ive nowt but respect for the man. RIP Derek and Sam

    He essentially preyed on the bereaved, knowing full well that what he did was a sham. He was a tw*t in my book. I feel sympathy for his family having lost a loved one, but that's it.

    Im not into this sort of thing to be honest. But my ex and her family got Derek & co round for a 'story' once, and he/Derek seemed really likeable. :)
