Joining Pompey on loan if reports on Twitter turn out to be true. https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/...arnsley-midfielder-cameron-mcgeehan-1-9192839
Just had a look to see how he's getting on this season. 18 appearances so far for Swindon. Conan would be shocked!
Makes sense. Not looked up to it in the championship & Portsmouth are one of the only lower leagues clubs who’d be able to afford his wages
I wonder if they’ll still boo and jeer him like they have done ever since they thought he was feigning an injury when he broke his leg.
Weird to loan him out when he’s only got 18 months left? Unless we don’t think we’d be able to sell him
It could be with a view to a permanent deal? Either way, it frees his wages up (or at least some of them) until the end of the season.
I like him as a player and I think he might have something to offer at this level - he was great against Fulham but his confidence seemed to take a real hit after the mistake in the Wednesday game. I always thought that a midfield 3 of Dougall McGeehan and Mowatt would be pretty useful, but sadly it hasn't turned out that way. Best of luck to him on loan, and wherever he ends up permanently.
His own self doubt and criticism made sure of that. He did a podcast in the summer which confirmed that he lets a bad performance and criticism affect him too much and it starts a downward spiral of him doubting his ability as a footballer. You could see it that when he played good he would string consistent good performances in, but when he played badly he'd go down that path instead. I don't think his skin is thick enough and he wasn't mentally strong enough to pull himself out of the bad cycle he was in. Obviously that wasn't helped by him moving up a level to the championship and finding it extremely harder to compete. Good luck to the lad, always tried and gave his all. Shame he's going to a set of fans that booed him off the pitch as he was on a stretcher with a broken leg.
