Multiple ballistic missile attacks on US bases in Iraq. Is this their response and let that be the end of it? Or are they just getting started? This is a nation much bigger than Iraq and Afghanistan in terms of numbers, a much greater and more sophisticated army with powerful weaponry. Will The Donald retaliate like the child that he is and become yet another US president to lead the west into another illegal war? What a state this world has become. It never learns, never moves forward because the people with power are generally bad, bad people and are elected by stupid people, of which there are many. Goodnight everyone and here's to this happy new year. PS - Boris back from the beach yet to get Brexit done?
Been reported that Iran have said if USA try anything else that they’ll target Dubai and Haifa next. Basically pot armed Trump to calm him down and threatened to keg him if he carries on. Only thing is Trump seems like the type of bloke to get stunned by a punch and go in swinging wildly so I’m expecting him to retaliate.
Unfortunately I have to agree with you. And we know we ll get dragged into it. Horrible way to start the New Year.
A Ukrainian Boeing 737 has come down after taking off from Iran. Iran have said it was down to “technical difficulties” The videos coming out make it look like anything other than a technical difficulty so this will cause tension in an already tense scenario. Even if it was technical difficulties you can’t help but think this will rope more countries into the squabbling and will be used as a political tool. Apparently there were no survivors, RIP the people on board.
Ukraine embassy also saying technical issues, have to admit though it looks a big coincidence. Either way as you say RIP
It genuinely could be technical issues but the cynic in me is pointing in other directions. Maybe that’s just a sign of the world we live in that i don’t believe two separate governments saying the same thing.
Well, to be fair only one of the countries in question has a properly democratically elected leader...
He’ll retaliate, no doubt. Another targeted response already tee’d up having anticipated that Iran would retaliate. This will get worse before it gets better. Can’t see a full scale invasion of Iran though, it’ll be missile strikes and air strikes. Depends if Iran make the mistake of attacking our warships in the gulf, we’ve enough on for the RAF from Cyprus with Syria without having to get involved in this. What a cracking start to 2020 this is. As for the airline, tragic, can’t be a coincidence can it, a bomb maybe ? Awful
Speculating about the cause of the crash is pointless, but interesting how cynical some on here have become about politics, and the World in general. I know when flying I am always slightly nervous at take off than during landing because climbing at a steep angle at a low speed with full tanks is, without doubt the worst time to suffer an engine malfunction since at such low altitude there is little or nothing a pilot can do if the plane goes into a stall. The scene of total devastation and fire can be accounted for by around 17 tons of aviation fuel hitting the ground at high speed so it is not surprising that there is so much fragmentation. RIP those on board
I fly occasionally but it doesn't 'alf make your arms ache I hate flying but it is all the faff at the airports , the waiting queuing security checks that is the reason. It is still far safer flying than driving to the airport, and being fatalist if something catastrophic happened, at least the end would be quick!!
Soleimani (and Iran) were working with the USA on September 10th 2001 to target the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Then overnight, they were part of the "Axis of Evil". Soleimani was invited into Iraq to negotiate a truce with Saudi Arabia, and the Americans were involved with getting him there. So, the Americans unilaterally decide that Iran was evil (after previously overthrowing the leaders of the country in the revolution) while working with them, then decide to kill one of their leading officials while he was trying to negotiator a ceasefire (so under the terms of parley).
You can only shake your head in disbelief when you hear UK and US politicians complaining about "Iran interfering in the region". Yet the liberal and ring-wing press/politicians promote the idea that the US and UK have some god given right to just invade countries if necessary, and that anyone next door to them is simply "interfering" if they take up military action against them. Imagine for one moment Iran invading Mexico on a lie of WMD, overthrowing its government, killing hundreds of thousands of people, building massive military bases all over the country and then bitching that the US government are "interfering in the region" because they launched missile strikes on Iranian bases from over the border in Texas whilst providing Mexicans with weapons. It's crazy, right?
More people die on the roads than in air crashes. So are you going to give up travelling by car and bus?
