Cawthorne Lad owned by Eric Brook who owns the big retail mill complex at Scissett and his horses run in red and white so must have a strong Barnsley connection
Silkstone is out of a dam called Fine Silk so looks like just a coincidence

Both Cawthorne Lad and Silkstone had fairish form on the flat and are twice raced over hurdles. Silkstone regressed on his second hurdles start and was reported to have had a breathing issue but he reappears only 35 days on. Cawthorne Lad progressed to be third on his second hurdles start in a reasonable-looking race at Wetherby. One problem for these two runners is that there appear to be three horses in the race who had superior form on the flat to the two above-mentioned, namely Giga White, Kangaroo Valley and Pour Me A Drink.

KANGAROO VALLEY is top on time and form on his hurdles performances with both Racing Post Ratings and Timeform. Furthermore, he boasts the best flat rating of any of these, and was formerly with Aidan O'Brien. He won a Tipperary maiden in June, and ran respectably twice at Leopardstown after that. He was given a considerate introduction to hurdling at Warwick (6th of 15) and this is his second time up over hurdles. Giga White ran third at Hereford on heavy going on his hurdles debut and should improve, but that wasn't a great race. Pour Me A Drink has his first start over hurdles today and was reasonable on the flat, winning a modest Class 5 handicap at Haydock in April. It's interesting that if this were a flat handicap, Giga White and Pour Me A Drink would both be getting weight from Kangaroo Valley, yet today over hurdles they race at level weights.

In summary, I'd make Cawthorne Lad and Silkstone both about 15% (11/2) chances, but the former is best-priced at 7/2 (Bet365) while Silkstone is best 5/1 (Hills, Victor). I'd give Kangaroo Valley a 33% chance, which would suggest a price of 2/1, but he is freely available at 9/4, so he'd be my bet.

Well I'm glad I didn't put you off Granty! To be fair, Cawthorne Lad looked the winner from some way out. Silkstone also ran better than last time. Kangaroo Valley ran no sort of race and was being pushed along with almost a circuit to go.
