I assume it's the old carrot and stick approach. No course attendance, no future tickets.

I was thinking that, but if they’re banned from the club in future then they’re not getting any tickets anyway so as someone pointed I could only think of they need to attend to get refunded or if the police were threatening a conviction if the guilty party didn’t go

You're probably right. Having read it again, it reads (to me) as if the two things are not necessarily connected. One action from the club, one from the police?

Is this racism towards our own what’s happened or another player using social media! I’ve read the statement but I’m a bit thick so...

Someone showed me the tweet at the last home game. Was against our own player. Not sure what they hell they were thinking. It was fueled by ignorance though and hopefully they take the opportunity to be educated and show remorse. In which case they should be allowed back if they have learnt their lesson.

No idea, mate. I bet I'm more thicker than what you is. I'm sure some cleverer person will be along to give us the details. :)

I saw the tweet and the person in question was trying to have a dig at our fans over abuse they’ve given to the player, but he worded it horribly wrong and it came across racist. He realised quickly after posting it and deleted it. but it was too late for him. He apologised, and emailed the club himself about the matter to sort it out.

I agree. The thing is social media is killing things. People in my generation are seeing other people gain followers or likes etc and they intend to do anything to get that because they are self conscious of themselves. Sounds silly but I know many people like it and they will comment share hatred and do anything what gives them attention. Brilliant what the club as done though

That's good news at the Club's stance. I hope they start doing the same with the numpties shouting foul and abusive language. It's not on, 'effing and jeffing' when my young grandson is sat with me. You only get twice as much when you tell them to stop.

    Just read this. Seriously, WTF?

The club seem happy to sit back and let hundreds get away with racist chanting, week in week out, that they tried to stand up against (weakly) at the start of the season.

Of course one instance of racist abuse is too many, and whatever went off here should be dealt with severely.

But it's a bit rich taking the high ground about tackling one instance when it goes off unchallenged every week. Maybe if they do something when it inevitably goes off again on Saturday, I'll believe some of the half arsed rhetoric about tackling racism in their statement.

Presumably they had all the evidence they needed in black and white in this case.

It’s a start so credit to the Club.
The penalty for non completion of the course is a bit harsh though - they get the opportunity to attend matches again together with a free season ticket. No one should have to face that.

What other instances are you referring to?

In this particular instance - I saw the tweet - a video of a man pretending to be a monkey was used in reference to Toby Sibbick. Let that sink in. I applaud the club for removing this individual from Oakwell.

Wrong to ban someone from matches after posting racist memes on twitter in reference to one of our players? Or are you following this post up..?

The other instances have been happening all my life. I've been contacted by someone on this BBS informing me that the defence of this guy isn't actually true, so fair enough.

But I have scars on my face and hands that will last me the rest of my life from standing up to racists at Barnsley, and it still goes on, so I think questioning this is valid when I've been skin deep in it for 30 years.
