Snooker is currently taking place on the BBC but for me it has to be golf as the most boring to watch sport on tv.

    Just my opinion.

The Ryder Cup is brilliant to watch IMO. Not overly bothered about other golf tournaments but likes of snooker and darts are dreadful to watch.

As you say, it is obviously very subjective.

    Darts?
Bowling? (Crown Green, Ten Pin, doesn't matter)
    Curling?
Pool? (Snooker for those with short attention spans)

Are any of those even sports?

    Rugby Union?

Petanque is pretty dull. Still find myself watching it, though.

I watch Rugby League but just can't watch Union although i have to say the atmosphere at the 5 nations knocks spots off RL.

Not proper ones in my book! Well, anything that doesn't require physical exertion such as darts and snooker aren't proper sports for me. More pub games. The people that compete in them are extremely good at them, don't get me wrong!

Back in the late 60s and early 70s when there were only 3 channels and the only live game of football was the cup final. The BBC used to make up sports for bank holidays. I remember one Good Friday Grandstand ( remember that programme), the was a competition where different type of "all terrain vehicles" including some from the army competed to get round a cross country course in the fastest time.

I also remember Grandstand televising motor car trails. This was similar to motor bike trials but with specially designed cars. The passengers in these cars seemed to spend all their time bouncing up and down to try to increase the traction. Again it was a race against time over very difficult and muddy courses. I am not sure I have described it very well but some of our older contributors may well recall this sport.

btw I also remember motor cycle scrambling which is mow called motocross being televised by Granada (in the days before Yorkshire Television)on a Sunday Lunchtime.

Rugby union? Some of the most entertaining games i've ever watched have been union. The 2nd half of nz v sa a couple of years ago was outstanding, never seen passion like it. Much prefer to watch league live though, don't think tv does it justice. Agree with all the others though.

Ice hockey, brilliant sport as it is, does not televise well as the puck is absolutely tiny and travels so fast. It's little better at a live game to be honest, though the organist, cheerleaders, and cheap beer allowed in the seats mean it's never a dull evening out. Snooker on the other hand televises extremely well, as it's very easy to keep track of what's going on. Whether you're actually interested in following what's happening is another matter entirely.

Golf I enjoy trying to play but find boring to watch. I used to hate Grandstand towards the end when they started making an afternoon out of Cross Country running and Badminton Horse Trials. Just clock watching until half-time scores with Ray Stubbs and Full-time score.

At least you can see what's happening. I'd say water-polo and squash are the two worst televised sports - no-one's got a f'kin scooby what's going on apart from the players.
