Reported in the Mirror as well: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/barnsley-defender-bambo-diaby-fails-21327768 According to that report the last player to fail a drugs test was an ex-red too - Mike Phenix.
Aren't drugs suppose to enhance performance? I hate to think how bad he would have been without them.
Nightmare. I can only guess that this is negligence on Bambo's part and that he's consumed something unknowingly.
On a side note, are we likely to get in trouble? It says he failed it after the Blackburn game, yet he continued to play him. I reckon the clubs we've beaten in that time will have something to say.
We won't get in trouble, it's the individual. UKAD do these tests randomly, I may be wrong but the club would notice it more pre season I believe due to the medicals and things they put the players through.
For cocaine, I doubt Bambo is in that category of failed drugs test, it's a massively vague article. Certain cold and flu medicines are on the banned list, it could be as simple as that..
What are the possible consequences in terms of a ban length if he's guilty? Is it dealt with on an individual basis?
Was just looking at some previous cases, Adrian Mutu got 9 months when he was at Chelsea in 2003/2004. Mike Phenix got a 4 year ban.
If he's found guilty it'll be a long ban. Imposed by WADA (or UKAD, as a poster above has mentioned) I believe, not the FA.
