Of signing the players needed to fix the obvious shortcomings in the squad they would have had them ready to sign on the 1st of the month to give them the maximum amount of game time to make the difference. The fact they didn't and still haven't shows on field results and performance arent a priority.
I understand the frustration but if you look at the transfer activity in this window, very few clubs have done this yet.
I couldn't give a **** what other clubs have done or not done the problems at Oakwell have been obvious since pre season and the fact that 3 weeks into a 41/2 week window our board haven't even begun to try to address them but instead persisted with a failing policy tells you all you need to know about their ambition for Barnsley FC.
You do understand that just cos BFC might want to sign they can’t until a club wants to sell? That club may not be in a desperate rush to sell and may wait to see if we blink and pay silly money or wait until they line someone up. Struber has said we have a very good defender coming in, this will give us a real insight into the future as it should give us a clue of his perception of a good defender.
I admire your faith in this Board. Mine disappeared in January 2019. Incompetent doesn’t even begin to cover it. They are shambolic and primarily responsible for that embarrassment that we had to endure tonight. But it is only one of many.
I’m not saying I have faith in them, I have said all along I would wait until this Jan transfer, that window is not finished yet. I also agree they have to take a huge responsibility for not only tonight but where we currently are. But it’s unreasonable to think you can have all your players lined up for the 1st of Jan, it just doesn’t work like that as much as we would like it to.
Fair enough. Your jury is still out. You’re entitled to that view. Mine isn’t, and it’s based on two years of bizarre decision making at a Board level. I stopped trusting them some time ago. I now believe it’s worse than that. They are actually incompetent, and beyond learning from their mistakes.
I hope I'm proved wrong but I can't help thinking he's talking about a 20 year old who's been ripping up the Tyrolean sunday league this season
it's called preparation and there clearly wasn't any. deals could and should have been set up ready to go i It does if you put in the effort and resources required problem is the board haven't accepted their strategy and policy is failing they really only care about generating profit through player sales. League position is a side issue.for them.
Totally incompetent and happy to just sit back and watch us relegated. If we do manage to survive it will not be because of their transfer policy. Three weeks into a transfer window when it's been obvious since August where we need to strengthen and they've done the square root of nothing to address the situation.
So how do they force a club to sell before they are ready? As far as any of us know they could have someone lined up and it’s the selling club delaying.
It's January where plays/clubs/agents are holding out for the best deal.and seeing who throws their cards in first which is why most deals dont get done until deadline day. It is my undersatnding that the club is working very hard to get deals done. This is real life not football manager 2020.
I keep hearing be patient .....and trust in their long term plan. I dont see one, for professional businessman, they have failed to learn from previous experience in this league. They grab money as soon as they can for the more established players (often under market value) and replace wirh kids, no where near the standard required and not enough time to learn. I expected international businessmen with their cv, to bring in better and more varied monies from sponsorship....... that hasn't happened either. The only evidence we have of their long term plan is their ownership of Nice, in France and that worries the hell out of me.
Agree 100%. We need 2 experienced centre halves now with Diaby likely finished for the season. I suspect we’ll get a couple more youngsters, maybe only one. They’ll already be looking for the next ones to develop. Reinvest all incoming money into the squad my arse.
If the board had any intention of making us a good club in this league, they wouldnt have flogged 2 class centre halves in summer and replaced them with 2 useless kids on cheap because the spreadsheet said they had potential. Everyone knows January window is very tough to get players signed in, hence why barely any moves have happened accross the leagues. Should have done better business in summer, now we are facing a near impossible task of signing some class centre backs to come save our season.
The pinnock sale must haunt them, vastly under sold and replaced with (ahem) lets just say players not befitting the standard required (or how about work in progress). imho Nate Pinnock was a season off being a 8 to 10 million pound player. Why did we just not find out what brentford were offering and give a bit more (admittingly there goes the wage structure) even if it was for another season. I dont know.... if it cost us a million quid (wages) over a year, it has to more efficient than bringing 3 to 4 young uns in and or we could sell later when the price was high And it has to be more efficient than relegation (£6 million).
He would have been out of contract, but even if we had him until January then sold we would have had more points on the board im sure
If this isn't Football Manager then how do you explain that cartoon performance last night? Budum tish.
