Exactly and competitive balance should be weighed up when signing players. I can understand the odd one now and again but not wholesale signings. Schmidts already shown us he’s miles off the pace etc. Why we have decided to go back again I don’t know. At least Stendel only signed Bahre never went back for any other German players last season.
Ludwig just looks like a right footed version of Ben Williams to me, full of energy & gets stuck in but lacks quality & gets caught out of position. I get flashbacks to Ryan Tunnicliffe with Ritzmaier’s signing. Not that he’s necessarily a bad player just that he’s come in & upset the balance of the midfield & things have gone wrong. Don’t know if others remember but we took Tunnicliffe on a months loan during a good run under Flitcroft, he started every game & we didn’t win one. He went back to Man Utd & we started winning again. Mowatt was playing well on the left side of the diamond & I think everyone expected us to sign someone on the right side to take Thomas’ spot, instead we’ve bumped Mowatt out of his best position & his forms suffered whilst Ritzmaier’s been ok at best. Surely your better players stay in the position they’re playing well in & it’s up to the others in the squad to earn the spots around them? I’ll reserve judgement on Sollbauer as I didn’t get to watch yesterday’s match properly but I’d be surprised if a 29 year old Austrian who’s never played abroad is going to come in & be that ready made experienced centre back we needed.
But at the sponsors event the players were quoted that he was brilliant and miles better than Stendel. So who's lying?
Moving Mowatt to the point of the diamond is as bad as I’ve seen, tactically, from a manager since we played Odejaye on the wing away at Preston.
One midtable championship attendance, two top six league 1, two midtable league 1 and the rest league 2. What sort of quality is attracted to a league with the kind of money available that those attendances generate? We now have four players signed from that league. I would imagine the wages we can offer are comparatively small compared to wage demands of players from the English league. But how good are they?
Can't remember the exact quote if in honest, but it was along the lines of Struber being a breath of fresh air, and his tactical awareness being top notch.
But are they going to tell the supporters at a event at the football club he is clueless and he is playing about 5 players out of position with he would pack it in with this dimond wish stendel was still here?
Seems like you have to say the reight thing about anything Barnsley fc or keep yer gob shut or your probably toast with this board.
The truth will do. Especially from Conman- although I don't think he has that in him. Whether he's lying about Stendel's departure, contradicting himself about Diaby's suspension or giving us the most successful transfer window ever, the bloke is as crooked as they come.
I agree with that - players aren't daft. But then they also wouldn't tell anyone at all that Struber is rhubarb - because everything from within our club gets out somehow.
It just sounds abit far fetched to me that they said his tactical awareness is top notch. If were losing 1 nil and it's the 87th minute or 3 nil and it's the 40th minute radlinger still passes the ball 6ft left to anderson who is limited at best. My grandma has bad eyes and nearly 90 absolutely no interest in football but if she watched us she would see that is plain stupid.
I can't find the quote, maybe it was from Twitter, but many players were definitely quoted saying that. It was after the Player Sponsors Evening. They said tactically he was miles in front of Stendel. They were obviously toeing the party line. Edit: found it. No idea how to embed tweets, but Paulbeaman04 tweeted the following on 13th Jan.... "Been at the Player sponsors dinner tonight, the players say it’s like night and day. Struber gives clarity to your role and the system. Stendel was often confusing and lack of clarity. You could see they admire Struber as a tactician. Really interesting insight" -- So there we are.
And yet under Stendel we were promoted with a record points tally and now we're struggling to pass the ball to a team mate. Forgive me if I question the validity of our players' testimony.
Thanks for that. I do get the impression that Daniel is a more an " express yourself" type coach and expected professional footballers to think for themselves a bit and Struber is obviously more you do this and you do that Tactically Struber seems to have made some strange decisions, but he is new to the championship too
I can't think of a single reason why an employee would praise their employer who holds their future in his hands at a company event
Regardless of him being new to the championship, he's apparently a professional head coach so he should be able to coach a variety of tactics and formations which will get the best out of the players at his disposal. What he appears to be is a one trick pony who plays players out of position in order to play his one and only comfortable formation.
