Does anyone think he will still be here next season? I know we can only speculate but my feeling is he will not be in charge for league one next season. The only way he would still be here is if we pulled off the most miraculous of great escapes.

Depends on the terms he was appointed I suppose. Serns a bit strange to quit your job and go to one away from home where success is very unlikely unless you feel that your job doesnt all hinge on staying up.Rotherham stuck with their manager despite going down so it doesn't automatically mean the sack. I dont think Luton will.sack theirs either.

He's had way more support than Morais and Stendel got off this board and they got rid of them so Struber should go the same way. Morais didn't have a transfer window and Stendel wasn't allowed older players even though he had earned the right by getting us automatically promoted. If we don't stay up with all the help Struber has had I don't see how he can be kept on.

We need to stop getting foreign managers in who bring sub-standard foreign players with them.

This goes against the plan that brought us player profits to begin with.

Pay more for a decent English manager next if possible or make it clear that whomever is the manager thoroughly looks at the English leagues first and foremost.

If the owners are to persist in this so called plan they need to get back to finding lower league English youth prospects as that’s what’s generated the income success in the first place.

Well considering he was there first choice all along, it would say quite a bit if they got rid of him so quickly.

We cannot keep on changing managers all the time. A more profound question than who is in the dugout is who pulls the strings in the background. Will the owners learn from their mistakes? Will they start treating success as a precious commodity, worth protecting instead of squandering as they've done this season? The lack of communication with the fans is also a serious question mark against their conduct. The vast majority of Barnsley supporters don't expect miracles. But we do insist on 100% effort and that includes from the board and owners. At the moment I'm not sure if they are just simply arrogant or apathetic.

I’d go for Nathan Jones in the Summer - currently out of work, point still to prove, and good success rate in the lower divisions, including through building a new team.

Well said. Agree 100% with this. They’ve gone down the foreign route cos it’s cheap but it won’t generate any profit in the long run.
Need to speculate a little to work the plan properly. British young talent is the way forward with a smattering of experience down the spine of the team.

First thing I would do if I was the owners, is take over the Struber night in Feb, attend and answer some questions with honesty and humility and after that get Dane to do a weekly blog/press conference etc, start to improve the communication.
If they were to come, acknowledge in hindsight some of the decisions in the Summer was wrong, learnt, explain January etc it would help as a start and may also answer some of the wild rumours that replace the void left.

Why I used phrase honestly and humility.
Way I see it is we can give them some rope and hope they take it and we move on together or they hang themselves. But everyone in life including them should be given the opportunity to redeem themselves.
The alternative is a civil war of sorts between the fans and owners which never goes well for the club.

Morais was sacked because of results and his ability to act like a safari animal in team meetings along with the fact we’d got far worse under his stewardship. Performances were as dire as the results.

Whether we like it or not, results have improved under Struber and I’d be shocked if we sacked him whatever happens at the end of the season, unless of course we lose all 16 games we have left.

I can’t make my mind up about Struber. There no doubt that he has squeezed some decent performances and results from a very poor squad. Losing Bambo has not helped either. I do worry about his judgment of players though. Mcgeehan had his limitations in this league but Struber never gave him a chance. But worst of all, does he seriously think Solbauer is an asset to the squad?

Dont think it's as simple as English or foreign coaches. Top of this division they're nearly all foreign coaches, towards the bottom more from the UK.

The main problem I see with this is that home grown managers/coaches know what goes on at Barnsley. They're not interested in being yes men, knowing that failure is their fault, never the owners'.
Foreigners either don't understand what they are letting themselves in for or are fed bull.****.

Well the plan won’t work if they don’t return to English player scouting in that case for me.
We may not get the English manager as you say but the club is going down a money pit rabbit hole buying cheap foreign youth and crossing their fingers and toes.
There’s a reason these cheap foreign punts play in what amounts to the European equivalent of the Scottish first division after all. We are clearly seeing it.

This is Lee & Conway we're talking about remember. As soon as we're mathematically down Struber & Senft are gone. Rose & Murray are in joint charge to the end of the season and the search begins for another unknown German/Austrian Head Coach. #seenitallbefore
