A great opportunity for our migrant friends to earn a living. It's not the kind of work our unemployed lazy British will take on.

The works were purposely done to open up the land the council had identified and sold for employment. The majority of the land from Birdwell Roundabout to Shortwood Roundabout is owned by multiple developers. From what I’ve heard, this Hermes site isn’t any of those sites along the Dearne Valley Parkway. Strangely, Hermes haven’t even submitted a planning application yet and the council claim this is the first they’ve heard of it!

Sorry, I get triggered by nonsense spouted by one or two on here and when I read that apparently under the tories workers rights will be no more and we’ll return to the days of slave labour I couldn't help but recognise ballacks when presented and called a spade a spade. Perhaps you’d like to qualify your statement by explaining where the slave labour is currently employed ? It’s just that the examples I’ve seen in the news have usually been trafficked from eastern europe by other eastern europeans free to ply their trade here because if freedom of movement.

    From anti slavery.org

“Most people are trafficked into the UK from overseas, but there is also a significant number of British nationals in slavery. The most common countries of origin are Albania, Vietnam, Nigeria, Romania and Poland.”

Stopping freedom of movement will not stop the top three, or the British nationals, suspect you were scoring a Brexit point though?

You of all people asking for evidence is classic - after spending most of the last 6 months dodging that very question.

Perhaps you just chose not to read my posts thoroughly enough. The poster alleges that workers rights have been eroded and slave labour has become prevalent under the evil tories, I’m just asking when it happened because my contract hasn’t changed and I’m still being paid.

That's the thing with you though Trickster, you are a bit "I'm alright Jack" .

The bottom line is there is less permanent work around. Also most jobs now are more target driven leading to more pressure at work. Also a lot of jobs haven't seen pay rises that equate to rising costs in fuel, food etc. Too many working people relying on food banks.

I was aware of your point, I just found it amusing that you raised it - seeing as you spent most of the autumn throwing around accusations as fact, without basis.

Corybn is a terrorist sympathiser, Corbyn is anti semetic, Labour are commies, the EU are forcing all their laws on us.

That was your basic rhetoric - all presented as fact without evidence.

You are right to raise the point on this occasion, I just found it ironic, don't you think.

It's like rain on your wedding day.

Funny how a thread, that generally should be seen as a positive story quickly gets turned into negatives

On line shopping is killing the high street, even if there were no business rates and other taxes, they would still resemble a tumble weed infested desert, it's a crying shame, you dont even have to leave your house and you can purchase anything with no transport costs, ( fuel/ bus/ train ticket/ parking/ crappy weather) it is a good tool but it as got so big it is destroying not only the high street/ town centres but the more smaller local shops

Without resorting to insults. I findyour comments and opinions are somewhat illogical and irrational.

It is years since the Lib Dem coalition ended, and whilst the Cons have not had an overall majority since May's decision to hold an election in 2017, in the interim period they have had ample opportunity to legislate away workers rights. Since most, if not all, of these exceed minimum EU requirements, they could have done so at any time. That, and the fact that zero hours contracts and 'gig-economy' are not restricted to the UK and are legal under EU law, makes a mockery of your theory that the "vile" UK Government will do so.
As regards the practice of zero hours/gig economy - it is nothing new and in certain occupations and for many self employed it has always existed. Musicians, actors commission based sales people have always had a lack of certainty as regards where their next paypacket will come from. I agree that the
The automatic assumption that this Government will destroy the country and erode rights and conditions (assuming that any Government would deliberately scupper a country's finances and future prosperity) seems more based on your political ideology and leanings rather than any hard facts. The fact that austerity (regardless whether it was the best way or not) has reduced the deficit and so reduced the RATE at which the National debt has spiralled shows the Govt have had a plan. I suspect the simple fact that many of the wealthiest individuals and big business have been relatively untouched whilst the burden seems to have been borne by the rest of us may have influenced your opinions.
For me, the jury is out. There has been much talk of a new beginning and a readjustment particularly in the North South divide. I will give it 18 months or so to see if the talk turns to action before I determine whether this govt is "vile" I would respectfully suggest you do the same.

Or a free ride when you’ve already paid ? For each criticism if corbyn or the eu I backed my allegations with facts to support them. If you still don't get that freedom of movement is eu law that we can do nothing about then I don’t see how I can help you further.

Without getting all monty python RH I know all about growing up in poverty, I know better than most how life can deal some families a sh1tty hand. But my childhood both scarred me and motivated me at the same time, so we’ve worked long and hard and done ok,my small family hasn't had to experience what I did and I’ve every sympathy for those who have to. I object to freeloaders and the feckless having suffered it myself it pysses me off that people come here for the free healthcare, education and benefits and please dont try and tell me that they dont. Back to Hermes it’s excellent news for Barnsley, whats even better is that post Brexit the jobs will be advertised in South Yorkshire rather than exclusively in Poland. Yes I’m alright now, but I wasn't,and I’ve therefore no time for those who contribute nowt but have their hands in my pockets.

Some people will always fall into those categories but most migrants contribute to our country in the same way most people born here do. When I say " I'm alright Jack" I'm talking about the here and now. There are loads of people who work long and hard but dont necessarily get rewarded financially. And the trouble is the gap between the top 5% and bottom 5 % is growing in this country.
