I was expecting a one armed ,one legged defender called Saulbaire instead I saw a rather calming figure who was committed to the cause, who hardly gave the ball away and was winning headers against far bigger opponents.I saw (in my opinion) Anderson have a decent game.I know he made a few bad passes but overall he won his headers and put in some good challenges. Both fullbacks were also very good.Chaplin didn't have the best of games but he's always likely to score so I would have kept him on.Styles on that performance as nailed his shirt for Tuesday nights game. A quick mention for Struber ,he mentioned after last week about being poor at set pieces and how much they were working on sorting that out.Well for me the hard work paid off.Every corner and free kick was dealt with quite easily. All in all a good performance. Now on to Birmingham and hopefully 3 points.
I’d like us to work on our own aimless corners and set pieces, and also on not taking stupid short free kicks too quickly, putting ourselves under pressure.
Saulbaire was decent, anderson did some good things but I wouldnt say he had a good game at all some comedy moments again for him liability.
I thought defensively Anderson did well but like I put in my post he made a couple of poor passes which in fairness all players do.
Not alter the fact that looking at the table we are not good enough, Will need a complete turnaround to survive after today
Agree with that, Styles has to start ahead of Thomas for me. Just on the corners we allow their player to stand on our keeper every time, need to cut that out.
Did you see just before half time his poor attempt to tackle conor wickham which almost lead to them scoring, then 2nd half similar situation should have put a tackle in on their man got skinned like a cat and we got fortunate again. He isnt good enough for this league well that's my opinion anyway. Does some good things but very likely to cost you a goal or give the opposition clear cut chances.
Irrespective of how well or otherwise we played this afternoon, the stark reality after today's results is that we are eight points adrift of safety. It's not over yet, but the fat lady is clearing her throat preparing to sing. Lose on Tuesday and I'm afraid it will look extremely bleak.
Teams round us will have to play each other as well so just can't see us staying up. We'd need a miracle run to stay up.
Didn’t have high hopes for Sollbauer, after reading comments on here, but thought he played well overall. Won the majority in the air against Wickham, and looked neat in possession. Can’t agree about Mads. He got better as the game went on, but he was woeful in the first half, and Oduor had to bail him out towards the end of the game. I don’t see this ‘potential’ that some seem to see in him. He doesn’t really possess any strengths as a defender.
Anderson does simple things ok...like heading but passing, tackling awareness, ball control....no im sorry (imho) hes a million miles of the standard required at this level. Thought wednesday were leggy and flat today but really, we failed to work their keeper, with anything worth while.
Anderson is not ready for championship football not even near that’s not been harsh on him, he just isn’t see the duel against Wickham which should have led to a goal he may be decent one day but he’s a way off it’s very unfair that he’s been made to play centre back in the championship all year
I thought Anderson was better than he was worse, he'll get better, Hopefully , on to Tuesday, uuuuuu rrrredddzzzz
I honestly thought that Anderson was decent today as was Sollbauer, after I’d been severely critical of him at Charlton last week. We should’ve beaten a poor Wednesday team today. They were there for the taking but poor decision making in the final third consecutive cost us. Thought Simoes looked good for an hour and Stiles did enough for a starting place over Thomas on Tuesday.
Let's be honest 8 points away, 3 more wins than Charlton is needed and we need to beat Wigan. We had the chance to peg them back and failed
I'm sure in April we play Luton, Stoke and Wigan in consecutive games, if we're still hanging on by that point then those games will all be must win!
Central defence did okay today nowt brilliant like, but Andersen putting his booit through it improved him and also it was a fairly easy shift for em both as Wednesday were just waiting for us to **** up and put us under little pressure. Instead they gave us a Davies/Winnall moment and we were back on level terms. Collins should have done better for the goal, beaten at front post aint a good look, Andersen again played his part in that goal. Styles coming on made a difference running at em, maybe its time to give him a go from the off instead of Thomas who seems to be off form at the minute. Overall enjoyable but we needed the 3 today and not just one point. Wednesday I thought were poor.
I think we need to win 8 games from the last 15. We have won 5 from 31. We need to prepare for League 1 and I need to save up for a new season ticket.
What I've learned is that no matter how long he's here, no matter how much even he admits they're not good enough Struber is unwilling or unable to change the defence and that is rank bad management. To continually force Mads Andersen to take the ball from 3 yards to the side of the keeper when the entire stadium knows he is unable to do so is rank bad management.
