I saw a few young uns outside the White Bear acting like morons but doing nothing apart from fronting up when, from nowhere, a single copper pulled his baton out and ran at the group swinging like a friggin lunatic, like he'd lost all control. Some of the other coppers were just watching in astonishment.

 

But the one shown in this video was fighting wasn't he? As opposed to just doing nothing.

Doesn't excuse the over the top reaction though but it's a very very short video which seems to be very selectively short.

 

footage should be sent to westminster now before syp sweep it under carpet,. the young lads were maybe in the wrong but that was even worse by the copper. 2 wrongs do not make a righr

 

What the copper used there was " deadly force" or the correct word is " Lethal force "a strike to the head is justifiable when you believe your life and the life of others is in danger, this clearly wasnt the case, it wasn't justifiable and it certainly wasnt proportionate, I ain't anti copper whatsoever but I am anti abuse of power, he went full retard and I hope he gets the sack, hope the lad is ok

 

It doesn't appear to be 'selectively short'. The lad filming happened upon 3 folk having an altercation and whipped his phone out. The police were only a short distance away. The reaction of the general public speaks volumes. The police also grabbed the phone off the lad filming and threw it on the floor. Thankfully and clearly it's still in working order.

 

So you think getting hit on the head with a steel baton was deserved? If the young lad had died of his injury would he have deserved it?

 

No. As you'll have noticed had you read the quite clear comment that it was an over the top reaction.

 

Is the video in the original post not the original video? It looks to be cut and jumps around a bit. Still doesn't on the face of it excuse the reaction. I'm not an expert but I would have thought if you're using a batten on someone lower than you then an underarm swing would be the safest way to do it and way you'd be trained

Its irrelevant how short the video is it's long enough to see 2 lads fighting and a copper run from behind and hit one round back of head with his trunceon. No need Could have seriously hurt him would have got away with this before video technology. Police are supposed to enforce the law they arent above it. Hope they throw the book at him.

The original video is about 3 seconds longer and it clearly shows only 3 people there having a minor scrap (all will be charged i'm assuming and rightly so).

 

Speaking as a former one missen - Yes - the odd one can be a right self righteous twohat - it only takes one bad apple,

But unfortunately the police seem to have more than their fair share.

The action by this law enforcement officer needs to be properly examined and held accountable, including but not limited to the IPCC courts and his MP

The true story is out. all it was is 2 16 year old lads went for eachother as they play for different football teams and have had conflict about something. They other kid was the one who went for the ginger kid but got thrown back and copper weighed in. You can see that if you look closely in the video

Not that it matters But I’m guessing they are both Wednesday fans.

 

Add to that health and safety inspectors, tennis line judges, politicians and football club owners.

 

What would happen to any of you if you tried to kill someone in the workplace? I would be sent to prison if someone in my group was killed through lack of knowledge, training, complacency on my part. If I actively sought to injure someone I’d get comfy in there and rightly so.

 

Just to be a bit pedantic I don’t think we have law enforcement .
Our officers police by consent rather than enforcement as in USA .
So on that I’d say officer was well out of order as less force could have stopped the situation .
