Anyone have any recommendations for replacement fascia & gutter companies please?

We live near Worksop but I guess most companies around Barnsley would travel that far.

Just Fascias have received good reviews on Checkatrade.com if anyone has used them?

Had ours done a few months ago. Can't remember the name of the company now, but basically everyone we got quotes from was about the same.

All I will say is that if you have a decent sized house, be warned that it will cost you an absolute fortune, as they will want to use scaffolding.

Ended up costing us about £10,000, most of which was on scaffolding.

I had Just fascias and wouldnt reccomend them at all. They didnt do what we agreed on and still wanted full payment . The checkatrade reviews are all good if you look, because they dont publish the bad ones.

I'm always a little sceptical of online reviews. One of our neighbours had roofing work done last year and her review was glowing. Unfortunately she hadn't waited to see if the work was actually up to standard and as soon as we got some wet weather she had to get them back out again. Her 5 stars seemed to be based on them being "nice lads".

The companies pay a subscription to such sites so depending on the subscription types the bad reviews "go missing"

Put the job on MyBuilder. You'll get quotes from local trusted traders who'll come round and give you quotes. I've never used them but I know folk who have and been very satisfied.

Fortunate that my brother in law is a joiner. When we did our fascia and guttering, he bought the
materials at trade price direct from the manufacturers for our house and our neighbours.
Over a couple of weekends, using three ladders, three of us then worked together to clad both houses.
We did the same for a couple of colleagues from work and a couple of close friends. Every year we
pay to have it professionally cleaned and it still looks in good nick.

I got a bloke from myBuilder to make a fitted wardrobe for me. I had a bad feeling about the guy half way through, seemed like he wasn't really up to the job but had taken a punt that he could pull it off.
At a certain point towards the end of day 2 he said he needed to go and pick up some stuff from the joiners, and he'd be back in half an hour. I never saw him again.
I emailed him to ask him if he was coming back and he said he broken his leg badly playing football and wouldn't be able to walk properly for 6 months, and I should get someone else to finish the job.

Yeah plenty of chancers on places like my builder. Cant beat a recomend or I'd advise checkatrade but avoid big companies as you will just end up with sub contractors and paying over the odds.

I agreed a contract with Sharps. Cost me around £3k for wardrobes on two walls and a three drawer
unit. Surveyor came, couldn't fault him. Designed a superb layout. Couple of weeks later, artic with all
the gear on board delivered everything and put it up in the bedroom.

It started to go wrong when the fitter arrived. He wasn't a joiner, he was a "wood butcher. " Ragged edges on white framing doesn't look good. There were gaps all over the place. Three hours into the build he left saying he had to go home as his partner had gone into labour.

At that point, I phoned Sharp and stopped the job. After a lot of haggling and agreement to a sizeable discount, they agreed to send their top man who lived in Scunthorpe. Couldn't complain with what we finally got. If anyone uses them in future, make sure you ask for references and if possible photographs of any jobs completed by the self employed joiners that Sharp use.
