She's gorgeous, but has she fixed your fence yet?

She’s now on her advanced stage which is the last step before she is matched to a client. She’ll be at guide dog school during the day and with us the rest of the time.

My in laws have a Lhasa Apso, they’re very cute.

Can she do anything cool? Is it true that guide dogs have a special prices for going to the toilet?

Are some breeds of dog more suitable to train as Guide Dogs?

How long does it take to train a guide dog and which are the most reliable, bitches/dogs?

Does being with someone who is sighted 'undo' the training.

Special prices? I’m going to guess you mean process. They learn to not ‘spend’ during walks and only go at home and on command (busy busy). Blind people don’t have to clean up after their dogs but they may get embarrassed and this way prevents any issues.

Haha yes I meant process unless of course they're charging now which is out of order imo

I thought I'd heard about a special process but want sure. It's great that they're so well trained in even the most obscure of things

Guide Dogs for the Blind use mainly Labradors and Golden Retrievers but 5% are German Shepherds. It takes just over a year to train one and costs over 50k. I don’t think either are less reliable. The only thing that would undo it is not being consistent.

    She is completely wonderful.
Well done to you for doing this, I believe guide dogs are worth their weight in gold. They are so precious.

I have to say I'm very impressed with you all (and I'm normally at the opposite end of the spectrum from dog lovers). Well done!

And doubly impressive that you got the fence mended so quickly!

That's a really clear photograph JD. I use an Apple iPad and have a folder for all the photos
we take. I am able to e-mail any number of those to friends and family, but don't seem able
to paste any on the BBS. I've tried clicking on one particular photo pressing copy in the menu
and then pressing paste but it doesnt work. Anyone got any advice please.?
